What’s HOT in the beverage categories for Summer 2021? Mocktails (a cocktail without any alcohol) are very much part of a category that is growing swiftly. Also, regular cocktails (with alcohol) are also being dealt with differently, using new mixes and adding in other beverages besides alcohol to make the cocktail more interesting.
Essentia Water has been part of these new trends.
Mel Meza, Essentia Water mixologist & Beverage Director at LA hotspot, Olivetta has noticed consumers ditching fruity and tropical flavors in favor of herbal, floral, and spiced options. Consumers are also paying more attention to ‘clean’ and ‘natural’ ingredients, with a growing number requesting alcohol-free mocktails.
With this in mind, Mel and Essentia developed two new drinks – the Poolside Crusher (gin, cucumber, and matcha) and Cruise Control (a mocktail with ginger, lemon, and passionfruit tea) – to get you through the summer heat.
Unlike tap water, Essentia’s ionized alkaline water is 99.9% pure, so cocktails and premium ice made with Essentia will maintain the cocktail’s true flavors as it dilutes. Plus Essentia is infused with trace amounts of electrolytes to complement your body’s natural mix – which will keep you feeling well hydrated as you imbibe.
Essentia Water has shared the recipes for the two cocktails mentioned above. One includes alcohol and the other is a mocktail (alcohol-free!)!
POOLSIDE CRUSHER (Gin + Cucumber + Matcha)
Ingredients:
2 oz Gin
¾ oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Lime Juice
3 oz Essentia Matcha Tea (recipe below)
2 slices Cucumber
Instructions:
Muddle 2 slices of cucumber in a mixing glass.
Add gin, simple syrup, lime juice, and Essentia Matcha Tea.
Strain into a rocks glass.
Add Essentia ice cubes.
Garnish with 2 cucumber slices.
Essentia Matcha Tea Recipe:
Boil 16 oz of Essentia Water.
Steep 2 matcha green tea bags for 8 minutes.
CRUISE CONTROL (Non-Alcoholic / Mocktail)
Ingredients:
1 oz Essentia Ginger Syrup
1.25 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Essentia Water
4 oz Essentia Passionfruit Black Tea (recipe below)
Candied ginger (optional garnish)
Instructions:
In a Collins glass, combine ginger syrup, lemon juice, and Essentia Water.
Add Essentia ice cubes.
Layer Essentia Passionfruit Black Tea by pouring directly on the ice to prevent mixing.
Garnish with candied ginger.
Essentia Ginger Syrup Recipe:
Boil 16 oz of Essentia Water and then blend along with 4 oz ginger.
Strain and add equal parts sugar to the liquid and stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
Essentia Passionfruit Black Tea Recipe:
Boil 16 oz of Essentia Water.
Steep 2 Passionfruit Black Teabags for 8 minutes.
Cool before mixing.
Both of these recipes sound very tasty.. and each has its own personality as a cocktail.
Cruise Control would be a great beverage to substitute for a coffee drink when driving.
