I am sifting through the various recipes I have been sent for Labor Day cocktails. There are so many options to choose from.
I am selecting recipes that are interesting and not too complicated.. though there is one from Teeling that has quite a unique presentation that requires some time.
Smoked Old Fashioned Featuring Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey
Ingredients:
2 oz Teeling Single Grain Irish Whiskey
1 Sugar Cube
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
2 Dashes Orange Bitters
Orange Twist
Method:
Muddle sugar cube and bitters at the bottom of in a rocks glass.
Add ice and whiskey.
Stir until combined.
Garnish with orange twist.
How to Make It Smoke:
Load wood chips into the SmokeTop™ chimney.
Place the SmokeTop™ on cocktail glass.
Direct torch lighter near the chimney of the cocktail smoker (about 5” from the top of the chimney and lower the torch lighter to 2-3” from the top),
light and smoke.
After desired smokiness is achieved, remove SmokeTop™ and serve.
GIN CUCUMBER LEMONADE —Created by Hendrick’s Gin
Ingredients:
● 1 1/2 parts Hendrick’s Gin
● 1/2 part Lemon Juice
● 1/2 part Simple Syrup
● Top with Soda Water
● 3 rounds of Cucumber
● 1 wheel of Lemon
Method:
Combine all ingredients in a highball glass filled with cubed ice and lightly stir.
Garnish with 3 thinly sliced rounds of cucumber and 1 lemon wheel and serve.
THE FRESHEST MARGARITA —Created by Milagro Tequila
Ingredients:
● 2 parts Milagro Silver
● ¾ part agave nectar or simple syrup
● 1 part fresh lime juice
● 1 lime wheel
Method:
Pour all ingredients into a Boston shaker, add ice,
Shake and strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.
Garnish with a lime wheel.

Ingredients:
● 1.5 parts Hudson Whiskey Bright Lights, Big Bourbon
● 1 part fresh pineapple juice
● .5 part dry vermouth
● .5 part simple syrup
● .5 part freshly squeezed lime juice
Method:
Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice & shake vigorously.
Pour the mixture into a chilled coupe cocktail glass.
Garnish with grated nutmeg.
JERRY LOVES GINGER —-Created by William Grant & Sons Manager of Brand Advocacy, Sebastien Derbomez
Ingredients:
● 1 part Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
● 3 parts ginger beer
Method:
In empty Collins/highball glass measure Sailor Jerry.
Add ice. Fill to top with ginger beer.
Garnish with candied ginger.
Hope you enjoy these cocktails. As you can tell there is a fairly broad spectrum of spirits and presentations.
