The Federal North Hollywood and Knitting Factory NoHo Step Into Summer
New Chef’s Web Site Heralds Summer Menu, Discount Continues for Striking Writers, LA Beer Week, Ever-Expanding Music Program
Happy Monday from Knitting Factory NoHo and The Federal North Hollywood with this brief update on things happening at the venues as summer comes to Southern California.
First, our new patio’s open!
Join us on shaded, sturdy picnic tables for food and drink under the tent and under the stars.
The new head chef Chris Olsefsky‘s menu, gorgeously displayed on the Federal’s new website.
He’s turned the Federal’s gastropub menu inside out with a pan-Asian twist.
The Federal’s venerable OMH (Oh My Habanero) burger: a beef patty, tomato, avocado, habanero jam, pepper jack, onion strings, chipotle aioli, and iceberg lettuce on a brioche bun. Dad can wash that all down with rotating taps and cocktails running the gamut from the “J Lo” (El Jimador Reposado, Passionfruit, lime, agave, tajin) to the “Aint’ It Fun” (the sensational Uncle Nearest 1884 whiskey, vanilla, lemon, sweet vermouth, nutmeg).
Olsefsky’s refreshed the all-day dining menu, offering yellowfin tuna crudo with yuzu kosho, cucumber, scallion, cilantro, sesame, edamame, rice crackers, orange cauliflower, and seasoned jackfruit tacos with vegan nacho cheese alongside decidedly meaty braised beef, guajillo, consommé, and cilantro.
He’s doing three kinds of mac & cheese (one vegan), steaks and salmon, and The Federal’s venerable OMH (Oh My Habanero) burger: a beef patty, tomato, avocado, habanero jam, pepper jack, onion strings, chipotle aioli, and iceberg lettuce on a brioche bun.
A view from the stage at The Federal.
And, The Federal is offering a 20% discount to striking writers with proof of guild membership.
Upstairs, Knitting Factory NoHo is the Valley’s new home for rock, punk, indie and world music shows–
many of them “all-ages”–with the help of Knitting Factory Entertainment (KFE) Talent Buyer Carson Ehlert
A performance at the Knitting Factory…
Knitting Factory gets the jump on summer with Pasadena singer-songwriter Charlie Hickey (@charlie_hickey_)—the indie bedroom pop artist known for his collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers and signed to her label Saddest Factory Records—playing on Monday, June 19, presented by The SoCal Sound (KCSN 88.5FM).
July’s diverse programming ranges from Los Angeles surf-garage rockers Together Pangea (@togetherpangea) on Saturday, July 8 to Cameroonian-born, Paris-based singer-songwriter Blick Bassy (@blickbassy)—who writes in his native language of Bassa—on Sunday, July 23.
Close out the month with venerable LA punks The Dollyrots, with supporting Party, Broken Baby, and Rocket.
I hope that if you are in Noho/ North Hollywood, that you can have a meal at The Federal and the Knitting Factory and maybe even catch
a performance or two!
