Most of the time, I get pitched stories by PR firms or brands or I run across something that I have fallen in love with — and I fall in love a lot. That’s what fashionistas do– fall in love with some thing– it could be a category or a brand. For me, it’s not about a category or brand, it’s about a design or style quotient and once I find that, I follow it, buy it, wearing it because it reflects a personal design aesthete.
I recently came across a line brought to my attention by a store that is across the country: Port City Shoes in Newburyport, MA, where Nancy Pratt, the owner, thought to send me a note asking if I would be interested in covering this new shoe line called Fidji. .
Why would she do this? Because she went to great lengths to have this Spanish line of shoes shipped over by cargo ship and the shoes are practically flying out of the store with customers doing repeat business because they are so soft, pretty and comfortable. (How many lines can say that? )
The shoe with the angular strap is A666 and comes in chestnut brown or green (shown in green). Ideal for dresses or skirts, giving them a kicky vibe and still has that distinctive feminine flare!
Scroll on down for more!
Here’s what’s so interesting about the shoes:
1) extremely limited distribution in the US at this time. This line will be expanding rapidly but don’t wait! (You will miss out on some GREAT shoes)
2) One of the handful of boutiques to carry the line is Port City Shoes — available on the web at
www.portcityshoes.com and by phone
978-255-1825.
Address:
Port City Shoe
163 High St.
Newburyport, MA
3) All the shoes come in Euro whole and half sizes and done in all leather– soft, comfortable and feminine styles without being overly gaudy.
4) Women as far away as Boston are driving to her store to buy them. (The hallmark of a great shoe and great service)
Based on all this 411 — and a few extended emails with Nancy Pratt, she sent me photos of her best seller shoes.
The little tie shoe is A668 and comes in all black or brown with black trim (shown in brown with black). Perfect for those man-tailored pants or to carry a soft looking wide-legged or even boot cut jean.
The shoe with the angular strap is A666 and comes in chestnut brown or green (shown in green). Ideal for dresses or skirts, giving them a kicky vibe and still has that distinctive feminine flare!
The shoe with the three straps is A665 and comes in black or gray (shown in gray). (This one calls my name!! ) These are the all purpose–work with everything show that comes in the color of the moment– GRAY!..
Hot Selling Point: They are all $129.00 with free shipping.

Ask for Nancy Pratt, the owner– tell her you saw it on the LA-Story.com.
Go forth and buy! You won’t be sorry. I saw the spring style photos. You will adore them!!

Hello There I am looking for a Fidji shoe. Style number A642 in a 37 1/2 or 38. They are black ankle strap low heeled pumps with three buttons on the squared off toe. I am not a show nut. But, these, oh my. They are the cutest shoes I have EVER seen. Can you help? Please, please, please, say yes. Irene Sharp

I really enjoyed your write-up of Fidji and have to agree that the shoes are amazingly comfortable and really soft. One clarification, though, the shoes are actually from Portugal. It’s a father and son operation that has been producing shoes for Europe since the sixties, and are now becoming widely available in the US. As the North American distributor, feel free to take a look at my website to look for local stores and also preview the current styles.
I am Nancy’s son. I am currently in the process of finishing up the website, but there is a temporary site to buy these at http://nmadore.com
The new site will be:
http://fidjishoes.com
once I am finished working on it. Thank Everyone for their support.
