Summer Sun + Sunblock = Safer Skin
Hi!
Sorry to be gone so long but when you see the June fashion feature for FashionTribes.com, you won’t be as upset when you see what was keeping me so busy.
(I am an expert in that field by now)
Anyway it’s MAY! What the heck happened to April? Are you ready for Memorial Weekend? Bathing suits (that word!)? Sunshine — and lots of it? Me—I love summer. I love warm weather and I love being outdoors (of course being in So. Cal. does have its perks) The beach is one of my favorite places.. but one thing I do know and never forget is sunblock. It’s sunblock or a lecture from my dermatologist (named one of LA’s top docs no less, so I can’t fudge) ..
Sunblock is a must year round—doesn’t matter what time of year as there is always UVA rays are there all the time, regardless of weather while the UVB are responsible for the burning and darkening of the skin. damaging the base layer of skin. Here’s a statistic that put even more curl in my hair.
According to the EPA: exposure to UVA rays causes up to 90% of the visual characteristics associated with aging: fine lines, wrinkles, loss of elasticity and hyper-pigmented spots.
In other words, major yuck and your anti-aging creams, lotions and potions aren’t going to help after the fact. So get smart, wear sunblock year round. Why? Because it will 1) prevent skin cancer and 2) delay or prevent sun-exposure related aging —or in plain English, you will look years younger girlfriend if you wear sunblock!
Yes I know that sunblocks tend to be gooey and messy. Choosing the right sunblock for your skin type is an ordeal. You want one that protects against UVA/B rays and you want something that won’t irritate or aggravate your skin.
I have a couple of recommendations that will cover the skin-type issues and give you some powerful anti-aging bonuses too thanks to the DDF Redox Complex.
I can hear you thinking — say what?? Redox what? Wait!! Redox Complex is a potent blend of several anti-oxidants that will help prevent sun damage and photo-aging including Vitamin A; Vitamin C; Vitamin E ; Pyconol (Pine Bark Extract); Grape Seed Extract; Lutein; Alpha Lipoic Acid; Polyphenols Genistein Soya Sterols; Zinc; N-Acetyl-Cysteine —just to name a few ingredients. Whip this batch of anti-oxidants up and you have a potent brew of good stuff for your skin.
For those with oily or combination skin, try DDF (Doctor’s Dermatological Formula) Matte Finish Photo-Age Protection SPF 30. This completely matte, quickly absorbed, shine free, comfortable-wearing formulation helps minimize free radical skin damage caused by exposure to UVA/UVB rays and environmental pollutants. Contains DDF Redox Complex™ and is suitable for all skin-types including oily!
DDF even created kits of sunblock, Buffing Beads and skin-type appropriate moisturizer for that full-treatment after-sun care. The Buffing Beads are gentle polishers for the skin and the moisturizers are silky going on. Makes a nice treat for yourself that’s actually going to do good things in the long-term as well as the short. You can buy these sunblocks and the sunblock body kits at www.ddfskincare.com ; Sephora, Nordstrom and Bath & Bodyworks.
See ya later!
