Ooh La La– Spa Heaven! Spa Haven for Stars!
When people from outside of California come to LA to visit, they are hoping that they will see a star running around town. Considering that most vacationers visit spots that are typically tourist spots, you aren’t going to find celebs hanging out. Even for local residents, it’s not often that they see celebs and you have to keep your eyes peeled when you do because they are often very subtle and zip in and out fast! Angelenos know that the best way to have a celeb-spotting is to frequent shops in their territory.
Lately there’s been a nail spa that’s been ringing up the star quotient exponentially. L. A. Vie L’Orange Hand + Foot Spa is conveniently located on Robertson (a popular street for all kinds of people in the entertainment biz) and is a hop, skip and a jump from all the great shopping and close to Big Blue, the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area.
Let your fingers do the walking and make an appointment for an amazing manicure or pedicure (or both) . This spa isn’t just catering to celebrities–it caters to you! Open six days a week, it’s a respite from all the craziness that is LA and life in general. This hand and foot spa is just that — a real spa that treats toes and tips gently without chemicals! They use natural based products and only natural ingredients and essential oils so that you have the most effective treatments. Each treatment includes a full manicure or pedicure. That lovely scent you can’t quite identify in the spa is cucumber-orange blend that is specially blended for them and is featured in their lotions and treatments.
The menu of services is amazing and features some amazing services. For nails, I would definitely check out the Rehydrator for its’ luscious treatment of dry hands and cuticles with grapeseed oil hot wraps and vanilla parafin dips (sounds yummy huh!) and it will have your hands soft and fabulous in less than 75 minutes. The treatment includes a ‘take-home" kit so that you can make sure your nails stay in great shape.
Feet get amazing treatments here with similar treatments to the hand menus. With names like The Orient Express or Walk on the Beach, you will feel like you actually went somewhere because you are so relaxed. The Walk on the Beach features a soak of rosemary and orange blossom infused water along with marbles and sand to help invigorate feet. A cucumber-orange scrub followed by a seaweed thermal wrap. ( bliss!) Top this off with an aloe and lavender accupressure massage and a hot towel wrap and you will become a puddle of goo as they give you a complete pedicure.
Bottom line: this is where you go when you need a vacation but can’t find the time or the dinero to go!
The spa ambiance is low-key and people allow you to just veg because that’s the point of the spa. No rushing, no pushing you to leave. You just feel fabulously relaxed when you leave –that is if you leave.
While you are sitting in your chair, you might spot a celeb or two come through getting their nails or toes done. Britney Spears was there yesterday getting her brows and make-up done by Tonya, the resident make-up artist. Molly Sims, Vanessa Marcel, Selma Blair, Sean Stockman, Jennifer Coolidge are just a few of the celebs who frequent this spa. Melanie Griffith had an outcall for pedicure/manicure combo at her home.
So if you are in the mood for some celeb watching or just want to get an amazing treatment on hands or feet (or both!), this is a great place to come because they treat you like you are a star. Before you check out, make sure you grab a couple of bottles of the cucumber-orange lotion. It smells lush!
