OR- The Newest Vision of Beauty and Skincare
When one thinks of skincare, it’s often fraught with such indecision thanks to too many products and not quite being sure that the line is for you simply because there are too many products. If one could find a simple line, then the problems would be mostly solved (the other part, making it effective and then affordable are also crucial)
Odile Lecoin, a physical therapist specializing in cosmetic medicine, has created a line that for the knowledgeable and demanding client– one who is knowledgeable about skincare (and if you are reading this blog, you probably are pretty knowledgeable) and one who doesn’t want to be laden with a gazillion products but wants to streamline life and skincare down to the best, most effective products.
According to Lecoin, achieving and maintaining a lovely complexion is relatively easy but it takes straightforward steps: smoothing ( OR, je suis), moisturizing (OR, j’ame), nourishing (OR, je reve) and protecting (OR je vis) to keep skin safe from an aggressive and cruel environment. To Lecoin, the key is in the concentration of the ingredients. Why use a slew of products when less is more if they have a concentration of the right ingredients. Her product line is light, pure and non-greasy so that they penetrate quickly and easily. Equally important, this line is geared for women of all ages.
OR, je suis ($225)is an anti-aging serum with silk proteins which provide an intensive moisturizing activity thanks to the release of amino acids. Wheat proteins provide a firming affect and also form an elastic film over the skin. This film provides a strength and smoothing effect that are visible upon application– and even more an hour later.
Marine elastin enhances the silk protein action by forming a biological film or layer over the skin’s surface to prevent the loss of moisture. It helps to restore the balance between elastin synthesis and elastase (an age marker) which makes the ingredient a potent anti-aging ingredient. It stimulates cellular activity and elastin is kicked into recycle mode and thus protects against the loss of skin tone and firmness. Gradually, the skin recovers suppleness and firmness and lines that were there, start to fade.
OR, j’aime ($ 175) is the natural moisturizer thanks to vitamin E along with the benefits of hyaluronic acid which will help skin to retain moisture all day. The anti-oxidant activity of vitamin E will also be enhanced by the hyaluronic acid as well. Other active ingredients include macadamia oil to stimulate skin function; musk rose oil which is more than 80% linoleic acid to help restore skin elasticity. This is a daily skin product that you will cherish as it protects and sooths skin.
OR, je reve ($175) is a nourishing gel that helps improve skin function and energy thanks to soy protein. To optimize cellular regeneration which typically occurs at night, the soy enhanced gel nourishes and repairs cells while you sleep. It increases the oxygenation of the skin and helps prevent aging. It contains serious concentrations of vitamins and minerals that skin often lacks because the skin isn’t high on the laundry list of body functions and because we don’t eat properly. OR, je reve restores the nutritional balance of your skin and your skin thanks you by looking radiant the next day.
OR, je vis ($275) is the crown jewel in this small collection. It’s the key that turns the lock– particularly for sensitive skin that reacts to anything and everything. It provides a repair function thanks to the active ingredient , Abyssine 657. this molecule– extracted from deep in the ocean, is courtesy of a microorganism that synthesized a molecule that it needed to survive the hostile environment of 8,200 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean between two geological plates. The molecule formed by the microorganism is a exopolysaccharide, Abyssine 657. Lecoin had this exopolysaccharide bioengineered from a strain that originated in the deep water geo/hydrothermal vents and this is its first commercial application.
This exopolysaccharide is a biologically active molecule that can help stimulate and strengthen the skin. As the key ingredient in OR, je vis the 3% concentration of Abyssine 657 provides reinforcement of the natural defenses of the epidermis. In essence, it reminds the skin — kicks it in the seat of the pants– to protect itself.
How do we know this ingredient does this? Laboratoires Lanatech documented the benefits of the exopolysaccharide step by step for those sensitive, irritable and hyper-reactive skin types.
Abyssine 657 neutralized more than 25% of the irritants to the skin when tested on psoriatic conditions, acne, UV damage and scar formation. Abyssine 657 enhances the Langerhans cells and the natural defense mechanisms (see the piece on Immuderm too for more 411 on Langerhans cells).
Important info for those who have questions or are skeptical. There are no dyes in the products. The B2 provides the color for the serum. There are no paraffin oils in the products. Musk rose oil and/or macadamia nut oil are used. There is less than 1% fragrance to mask the smell of some raw ingredients but these ingredients along with th .05% of fragrance leave your skin feeling fresh.
Plus for the chunk of change you are spending you will find that the axiom "less is more" operates quite well with these products. You will find that your skin rebalances, revives, is more refreshed and so you can be economical with this line. (in other words, don’t shovel it on). The packaging is white with gold foil and black lettering. It’s quite lovely actually and would be attractive when left on the counter.. or maybe not left out. You don’t want your GF’s to snatch it when they figure out it’s the OR line that’s made you look so phenomenal.
Where to find this amazing line? One place is in France. Oh.. not going there anytime soon! Not to worry. Barneys New York on Madison; Barneys New York, Beverly Hills, and Barneys New York, Chicago all carry the line. If you aren’t close to those stores, you can find it online at Barneys.com.
See you at the Barneys beauty counter! (yes that’s me, standing around the corner, reading every last ingredient)
