Stacy London of What Not To Wear is a very busy girl these days!! She has been working on the debut of her new talk show, Fashionablly Late with Stacy London. . It debuts tonight, Friday 11/23, at 10 PM immediately following What Not To Wear– a perfect segue for those who can’t get enough Stacy London!
While I have tried to get some chat time and even “behind the scenes” video clips, (hello TLC PR people, you forgot about me!), I am going to cover this because I have talked to Stacy before in a telephone interview.
Here’s a clip of the premiere show for you to check out
What’s interesting is the review in today’s LA Times Calendar section written by Robert Lloyd
Lloyd if not very complimentary about the first segment –from the set design to the show dynamics to the guests. He’s not getting that this is a girl time event and quite frankly on a Friday at 10 slot, it’s a perfect time to get the gal pals together and pour out some ‘tinis and dish about the show and listen to the guests.
Why a guy is writing this review for a show that’s very obviously skewed towards women beats me. What irks me the most is the lack of copy-editing on this column. Excuse me Mr. Lloyd but I think if you are going to talk about the segment where Stacy visits a cosmetic company lab to create her very own lip gloss to hand out to guests, then I think you should make darn sure that you spell the cosmetic company’s name correctly! Lancombe is NOT the name of the company– Lancome is how it’s properly spelled and I am sure as an advertiser both in the LA Times and I bet for this show, they aren’t going to be happy about the lack of copy-editing. Why it is jarring to see London in flats when at least 50% of NYC wears flats out on the streets makes no sense to me. (Heck as a native Angeleno, while I wear heels all over LA, when I was in NYC about 10 days ago, I wore flats everywhere (boots, shoes, whatever). Get with the program and get a tune-up on your fashion quotient because that’s what this show is all about.. albeit sans Clinton Kelly.
To me, it’s clearly a case of never send a man to do a woman’s job!
Please take a look at the review and feel free to give me your thoughts about it and check out the show too.

I’m female, and I really like Robert Lloyd’s review. I hope Stacy reads it and takes it to heart. I found the show last night a little bit boring, largely because Stacy by herself has a tendency to try too hard and become self-conscious. Clinton always seemed to be the warmer, more down-to-earth half and I sorely miss him. They rushed through segments too quickly with no space for any substantive analytical or emotional development (philosophy major! let her really analyze something!) – i suspect that everything was thoroughly pre-scripted (except for the husband’s makeover reaction of course), which is unfortunate. Stacy, the more you slow down and open up to us the more we’ll love you! for real! Don’t you think we know you well enough by now? Stevie Wilson, if you’re going to criticize Robert Lloyd, do it for something more substantive than his gender/typos.
I apologize for my possible misspellings or luck of my writing skills; English is my second language. Although I truly hope that my readers will get the point.
If name of this show was more clear as “Cocktail with Stacy” or something like “Flenk with the drink” etc then “yes”, I would have been less critical and would have been more understanding.
However, creators of this “show” came up with a name as “Fashionably late” ??? Bad start already, because name of the show so as a show itself gave mix up messages. I could not understand what exactly I am watching. Was it a new version of “What Not to wear”? Or it is a twin of “E- News”? Or, Oprah quit and Stacy accidentally toke her place? Perhaps, Letterman finally retired and Stacy was the one only one who could fill in?
It was clear that “Fashionably late” “borrow” from every well-known shows. Moreover, the outcome waaaaaas a great looking, yet badly tasted cocktail that over warms you at first, yet after sometime you are ready to throw up and have that morning sickness feel
The reason of my morning sickness is that the show had luck of its golden tune. It was probably easier to dig the best tunes from all shows instead of creating its own.
O, I am sorry; I forgot that show had their own “golden tune” as dressing up 14-year-old dog in a silly dress. I was very sad to see that old, confused, small dog; even if I had your free cocktail, I would still feel the same and would have walked out right away.
Stacy and Clinton were great in “What Not to wear”. This show was genuine, had a clear massage and it perfectly served its purpose.
In my opinion, “Fashionably Late ” put Stacy on wrong spot due to a very bad script. It made me really think that if she was truly a gem as I thought she was she could have never agreed to be part of this scam.
Moreover, from now on I would not be enjoying what not to wear as I use too.
