Women tend to love colorful drinks– particularly ones that are tasty. Guys need to try them because they can be mixed in such a way as to make it worth the time — and effort– to get to know these spirits. ( *helps you with the ladies, guys!)
With more than one drink on this date, I figured what the heck, let’s count it a bit more than 1 day because UV comes in MANY flavors and I have recipes for at least 5 days. So I counted it for at least 2 days. I might come back and revisit this one but it’s worth a shot – (or a jigger or two) with this group of spirits.
Made by Phillips Distilling Company, the UV brand is rather unique because it comes in a rainbow of hues and flavors. It is a vodka based spirit that is distilled four times for an optimum purity, neutrality and character and done here in the US with corn.
Featuring pure Minnesota water from wells drawing from deep aquifers, it is purified to remove the unnecessary minerals with a 3-bed deionization making the water as pure and clearn as nature and science can create.
Vodka is a “neutral spirit” and should have a pH in the 6.0-7.0 range. That is, not too acidic, not too basic. While some go for the loophole to add a citric acid, UV is never blended and maintains a pH of 6.0–in the same neighborhood as super-premium and luxury brands like Grey Goose, Belvedere, Stolichnaya, Skyy, Smirnoff and Ketel One. If you want to see if YOUR vodka is not the perfect pH, then try this test, pour about an ounce of it into a few ounces of Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur. If it begins to curdle, even slightly, there’s acid in the vodka. Junk the vodka and turn to UV Vodka and it’s flavored counterparts.
For the flavored vodka, Phillips takes a route that few follow> UV Vanilla, for example, uses four-fold vanilla extract imported from Madagascar–whereas most other distillers use vanillan, a synthetic, far less costly vanilla flavoring.
Same goes for UV Cherry, UV Grape, UV Apple, UV Orange and UV Citruv. All natural flavors straight from the fruit and sweetened with a bit of natural, cordial-grade cane sugar from Florida to amplify and enrich the flavor, mouth feel and character.
The flavors include
UV Vodka, UV Blue, UV Cherry, UV Lemonade, UV Vanilla, UV Citruv, UV Orange, UV Apple, UV Grape– each in a different hue, different taste but the same dedication to flavor and pristine purity.
