Recently I was asked to “test drive” some products from Elizabeth Arden– essentially the product is the new Intervene Makeup (read foundation) SPF 15.
This is a new product from Arden and it’s unique formula features a new technology called Biodormin that helps delay and defuses the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while offering a firmer look to the skin. Given the current events in my life lately — deadlines and events– I gladly signed up to test this baby out.
This is a liquid foundation for normal skin (dry skin would love it too) and it provides an SPF 15 and a more medium to full coverage. I think that it’s a more medium finish depending on how much you use. I was able to get away with 1.5 pumps (don’t ask me how I got the .5 pump..please!) and covered my entire face –using either fingertips or a brush. I always use a brush to finish the application and it really clung to my skin and not the brush. Layer it on for a bit more of a coverage aka concealer, layer on a full second coat and get that full coverage finish that isn’t matte but more buffed looking. Nice– not dry and it doesn’t settle into lines or make your face feel taut at the end of the day. It’s one of those day to night foundation that really IS day to night.
My color that I got was Soft Sunbeige. I picked it off a website chart (yeah.. really!) Surprisingly close match with golden undertones but maybe a shade or two too light. It’s useable but it’s just a fraction too light and just gives me a more porcelain look and if you know what I look like, that’s hard to do with a more olive/yellow-toned skin.
I also was sent FLAWLESS FINISH Maximum Coverage Concealer: but they didn’t ask me what color.
I received Fair which is really the wrong color. Far too light and with no yellow tones to counteract the blue-ish circles (allergies) around my eyes and it’s much too pink to work with the golden tone foundation. However for those with neutral to pink skintones– this would be ideal. Easy to work with, doesn’t cake up and is creamy!.
ELIZABETH ARDEN’s Crystal Clear Lip Gloss ius a great gloss with a minty flavor that makes it less of a teen thing and more serious and helps when you have had something spicy.
Plus it is fast, easy application and I love that I can pack this in a pocket.
Here’s one of my favorite things to play with. Goodness knows that I must have 20 mascaras and I layer them to build up a certain look or coverage. I am picky about what I use and if I find something clumps, it gets tossed– FAST !!
The Elizabeth Arden EXCEPTIONAL Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascarain black is a real keeper!!!
Infused with Ceramide Triple Complex and Keravis™ to help lengthen, define and revitalize lashes, it really leaves lashes longer, thicker, more defined yet soft. No stiff or brittle lashes and it washes off easily! There was no smudging or flaking either. Yay!! This is one of those holy grail mascaras. (buy 2.. one for your desk or handbag and one for home kit)
COLOR INTRIGUE Bronzing Powder Duo
Living in California, one thinks we are tan all the time; not so but we sure do miss the sunshine and the color that it gives our skin. I need a little color and a true brown *(not orange or red) bronzer is hard to find– until now with the Color Intrigue Bronzing Duo. While the lighter shade is meant to highlight, the darker color is swept across the bony sections of your face for a bit of subtle bronze glow– without sparkles and shimmer. It’s really lovely and I found it was subtle enough for winter and would take me easily into summer.
The last product was a nice defining eye pencil, ELIZABETH ARDEN Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil. It’s a sharp point, but soft application pencil that lasts a long time. It smudges beautifully.
So check out your local Elizabeth Arden counter or shop online — through department stores or the Elizabeth Arden site and go have some fun. Personally go to the counter and color match the foundation so it’s perfect!!
See ya at the beauty counter!
