It’s time for Celebrity Style Slam!– UK Stylist Michaela Jedinak’s commentary on the celebrity fashion winners and losers. Michaela comments regularly on a variety of current celebrities at events or about town and how their style chalks up in her typical “call them as she sees them” manner.
If you are a regular reader, Michaela covered celebrity styles for LA-Story.com for the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Grammys, SAG Awards red carpet reviews and the Gucci/Madonna Party at NYFW!) . Check out her site: www.joyofcolour.com
Celebrities Featured: Juliana Margulies and Jordin Sparks
Jordin Sparks
Colour: The colour is actually quite nice on her and picks up on her colouring and smile, but the colour of the shoes is wrong. Either she should have gone glamorous by balancing it with silver shoes or elegant wearing black shoes and a quirky black grandma handbag or gone creative with deep purple!
Bodyshape: Nope- not really working. The top around her bust is ok but the high-cut empire line with all the fabric draping in such shapeless way doesn’t work for her bodyshape. Her waist is not long enough and the skirt line is far too bulky for her height and frame.
Style: The shoes are really the killer here. As mentioned, she should have chosen different ones. Her accessories are not complementing the dress in colour because they are totally overpowered by the bright warm colour of the dress. Contrast would have been king and shape queen
Overall: 3*** (She does have a winning smile!) Three Stars
Juliana Margulies
Colour: Nicely coordinated with her colouring- keeps it deep near her face, lifts it with washed out jeans and brightens it with a reddish lipstick.
Bodyshape: She has a long neck and can deal with drama and volume near her face. The scarf or bow tie with her hair loose around it gives structure to her shoulder line. The cut works around her bust line because it doesn’t have any pockets but instead side pockets which make the jacket look more shaped and waisted.
It is a great feature for her and she can deal with this detail since she is long waisted. The cut of the jeans are flattering her leg line and proportion and the belt buckle has the right size for her scale and as well to counter balance the leather jacket.
Style: Well- I think she looks great and it looks great on her. She definitely can pull it off since she looks very comfortable, but I just wonder if she had mistaken this event for a night out in the pub in the neighbourhood- it is really not the dress code and doesn’t make her the ” belle” of the night.
Overal Rating: 3*** Three Stars
