Sex and the City seems to be hautely (deliberate change of spelling) awaited by many fashionistas young and old.
I was surprised to find that the movie had premiered in London before New York City. (ok.. let’s say shocked because I really thought it would open in the US first!)
So I turned to Michaela Jedinak , UK Stylist, and creator of the Celebrity Style Slam for her evaluation. Celebrity Style Slam!– features UK Stylist Michaela Jedinak’s commentary on the celebrity fashion winners and losers. Michaela comments regularly on a variety of current celebrities at events or about town and how their style chalks up in her typical “call them as she sees them” manner.
If you are a regular reader, Michaela covered celebrity styles for LA-Story.com for the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Grammys, SAG Awards red carpet reviews and the Gucci/Madonna Party at NYFW!) . Check out her site: www.joyofcolour.com
Instead let’s focus on what we all wanted to see in this movie– THE CLOTHES!!
Now here’s the most interesting part– what did the actresses, the key people we identify with wear to the premiere in the UK? We are splitting up the 4 girls into 2 girls per post– so you have to come back tomorrow to read about the other two..
Celebrity Reviews: Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker
Kristin Davis:
Color: Good choice in the colour of the dress, but not so good in the style for her shape.
Style She has a small décolleté line and therefore she should never ever wear a high neckline because it makes it all too cramped especially when she wears as well her long thick hair down.
BodyShape: Though she has a long waist as a pear she can deal with volume in form of pleats in her waist line. Ufortunately the full neckline with the pleats starting under the bust line that looks all too full and cramped and makes her look very unproportional. Also part of the pleads sit on her hips which add detail to a part where she should keep things easy and straight.
Overall Rating: 3*** Three Stars
Sarah Jessica Parker
Style: She ticked all the boxes but was as well politically correct by wearing “British” designers in a “British sense of style”.
Color: The icy green colour is a great choice for her colouring and gives the dress a fresh and current look. T
BodyShape: The flower trend is fantastically incorporated in her hat from Philip Treacy. It gives her height and as well weight that she is the” queen” of the show.
( Stevie’s note here. I have been watching all the blogs and fashion forums and I have to say that there is a great controversy over that landscape of a hat. It’s really over the top — and while she was trying to fit in, it seemed to wear her, rather than SJP wearing it. Honestly! But that’s a US perspective and not the UK one. So I respect that hats are worn differently and more in the UK than here. )
Overall Rating: :6****** Six stars
