Sex and the City seems to be hautely (deliberate change of spelling) awaited by many fashionistas young and old.
I was surprised to find that the movie had premiered in London before New York City. (ok.. let’s say shocked because I really thought it would open in the US first!)
So I turned to Michaela Jedinak , UK Stylist, and creator of the Celebrity Style Slam for her evaluation. Celebrity Style Slam!– features UK Stylist Michaela Jedinak’s commentary on the celebrity fashion winners and losers. Michaela comments regularly on a variety of current celebrities at events or about town and how their style chalks up in her typical “call them as she sees them” manner.
If you are a regular reader, Michaela covered celebrity styles for LA-Story.com for the Academy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Grammys, SAG Awards red carpet reviews and the Gucci/Madonna Party at NYFW!) . Check out her site: www.joyofcolour.com
Instead let’s focus on what we all wanted to see in this movie– THE CLOTHES!!
Now here’s the most interesting part– what did the actresses, the key people we identify with wear to the premiere in the UK? We are splitting up the 4 girls into 2 girls per post– so you have to come back tomorrow to read about the other two..
Celebrity Reviews: Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrell
Cynthia Nixon:
Color: The black colour is not the spoiler of the look her but the style
Body Shape. Since she is more of a rectangle in her bodyshape she needs volume and roundness to balance her shape. This dress just does the opposite by making her long and straight on top- it is just lacking shape.
Also, her décolleté line is not displayed to her advantage, but it all looks hanging “south”. Her waist line and top of the skirt line look awkward. They come together at the wrong part of the body and it is the wrong cut for such a body shape.
Style: Her hairstyle on the other is right since it gives her volume to her shape, but not enough to balance the straightness out of the dress.
Overall Rating: 3*** Three Stars
Kim Cattrall:
Color: True to her film character she wore a bright red dress from Vivienne Westwood that looks stunning on her.
Bodyshape: It gives her a beautiful décolleté and shoulder line. The full skirt and fitted waist is spot on trend and works beautifully on her bodyshape.
Style: Only her hair style spoils the look. It is pulled back too severely for this dress and look- it would have been better to keep it open at the back and just pull it back softly at the side
Overall Rating: 5***** Five Stars
