Brothers and Sisters Season 2 is out on DVD and if you haven’t caught up with this one courtesy of the writer’s strike, now is the time to catch up on the drama — and drama it is– and see why Sally Field was nominated for an Emmy!
This great ensemble show definitely has “jelled” into a terrific family drama where the actors slip fluidly into place and work their magic. The synergy of Sally Field, Rachel Griffith, Calista Flockheart and the rest of the cast make this show “must see” tv in the same way that ER once was part of everyone’s night. The entire DVD collection for season 2 brings it all together and sets you up for understanding the nuances of what’s happening in season 3. The great part of the dvd is that you can see them all in sequence and get the insider tidbits that are involved in this collection so that you don’t miss a thing of the intervention, The relationships of Field’s character with two men (Chevy Chase and Danny Glover) and Flockhart’s character ( with Rob Lowe) developing are very dynamic and evolving .
It’s definitely a cool series and meant to be watched. I don’t want to get too deep into this because it would spoil the fun!

Eli Stone is one of those undiscovered miracles on tv that once you find it, you wonder why the company didn’t promote it more.
This most unique tv series got me hooked in episode one – and that’s not the easiest thing to do. This series starts out featuring Eli Stone as the kick a$$ attorney who is the major gunner in the high-powered law firm. He’s the heir apparent to the head partner and engaged to his daughter, another attorney.
Eli Stone (Jonny Lee Miller a UK actor who convincingly plays a US attorney) is ambitious and cut-throat. However one day he has a vision: it’s George Michaels (yes THAT George Michaels) signing “Faith” on his coffee table. Subsequent visions ensue at all different times and places– some in the office– that include singing and dancing people that Eli knows, works with and cares about. The visions seem to include some metaphorical and allegorical situations that refer to a case that Eli is to take on and win in court. These visions often include his late father and there is debate if the visions are due to a brain aneuryism discovered by his MD brother or if he is in fact some sort of visionary/prophet as his accupuncturist states. Turns out the accupuncturist knew his dad and so Eli returns to him regularly to get the visions clarified.
Essentially you need to suspend your disbelief for the sake of accepting all the things you see in this series to “get it”, but if you do, you will realize that everyone in the cast sings, dances and acts in a range of roles that is amazing and far beyond what you would have expected in this sort of series. This isn’t comedy. This is drama with a purpose and humor. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but George Michaels really does show up in one episode as himself and the series just keep building.
HIGHLY recommended, this series had me hooked from “play” and I was on a marathon to watch it. I can’t wait for the next season because it starts after Eli has had surgery for his aneurysm.
