The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Drops on DVD & Blu-ray!!

Brendan Fraser returns to The Mummy series for movie #3– The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor –in an action-packed movie that’s heavy on the stunts and rather thin on the plot.

The movie stars Fraser, Maria Bello (in for Rachel Weisz who just had a baby at the time of filming), along with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in the other major roles. Reprising his role as Evie’s brother (and comic foil) is John Hannah (woefully underutilized here) and now a much older (and gaining about 15-20 years in the process) is Luke Ford, playing Alex O’Connell, the son of Evie and Rick. No wonder Maria Bello looks more the part because the hair style, makeup and wardrobe people did her no favors and Brendan Fraser looks just a tad stodgy.
The action shits from the mid-east to the far east to prevent a resurrected emperor from taking over the world and again brings back many of the same tricks used in the Mummy 1, Mummy 2, The Scorpion King, Inidana Jones, and other action flicks that this one just seems a tad too easy and too predictable. It’s as if they ripped off the storyboarding of a series of other action movies including the Mummy series and scotch-taped them together to create a story that sort of flows. The only truly realistic people in the entire movie are Jet Li who plays the evil emperor with glee and Michelle Yeoh who is dynamic in her role.
