Getting Into Torrent Vol 1 & 2 by Will Dailey. Hotel Cafe Appearance Review & Podcast /Interview!
Will Dailey is racking up the points and ripping up the charts as he is touring and getting his music heard via iTunes, CD’s and also as part of the soundtracks of various TV shows. This indie/alt musician has made a serious impression on those who have discovered his musical talents and he’s ramping up the audience and touring to bring his unique sound — which I referred to in my first blog/podcast with Will as a blend of a single malt scotch with molasses. It’s not your typical pop singer here– he’s got serious musical chops.
His newest musical collection, ” By the Blue Hills” (Torrent Vol 2) as is Fashion of Distraction (Torrent Volume 1).
Prior to his recent appearance at the Hotel Cafe, I was able to snag some of his time to talk about his newest batch of CD’s — released in EP format— and also his career. Here’s the podcast for you to check out!
A friend and I hit the HOTEL CAFE date for Will Dailey — and it’s the first in a series of dates that he talks about in the podcast. It was just his friend & fellow guitarist (killer on steel guitar too) and Dailey performing. It was sooooooo great to see him again and if I thought the first performance was fabulous, this one was even better because it was sleek and trim on the back-up since it was pretty much just 2 guitars & singing.
The true essence of a song come out in the more streamlined version/acoustic set-up to hear the truth of the lyrics and the dynamic of the music. While I got to hear the heart of the Fashion of Distraction tunes, I also got to hear the best part of his Back Flipping Forward CD that he had already released and BiPolar Baby is still my favorite but heard some different takes on other tunes from that CD. It was a stellar performance and note that he’s coming back May 2, 2009 to another venue (which I will hit ) for another round with a larger group of musicians — so definitely plan on hitting that gig if you are in LA.

The only problem is there aren’t enough chairs at the Hotel Cafe– even bar stools would help!!
