La Chica Chic pieces are designed for the confident, refined, proud women who is not afraid to be sexy and stand out in a crowd. They are unique, classic, and elegant. Each piece draws attention to the passerby in its own way. Right now, I just came out with my new fall collection, and is very exciting to present the new addition to our line: shoes!
The materials we use range from: rich leathers, lambskins, and suedes, to cultured Brazilian beads and Brazilian semi-precious stones for detail. They provide for the unique combination of luxury and bold, sassy detail! The Brazilian beads and stones–which bring luck to the wearer–also directly introduce a bit of the Brazilian culture. Our target audience is confident women of all ages who are not afraid to stand out and look fabulous. I’m always inspired by my own roots: Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the spirit that comes with my Brazilian culture, most especially Brazilian jazz music.
I knew that I had to work the arts into my life somehow, and it was one day over a coffee with a very good friend in Brazil that I decided to start my own business and turn my sketches, ideas, and designs into La Chica Chic. It was a way for for me to introduce the spirited Brazilian culture into the lives of confident women in the US, and keep her passion for the arts alive.
My idea was always about being international and bringing that flavor and pizzazz to U.S. The name La Chica Chic is a mix of Spanish and French and literally means: Stylish Girl. The pieces are simply dazzling, cultured, unique. It is interesting as well to think that it started in casual San Diego…where you most often see completely casual attires–think flip-flops and spaghetti- straps. Kind of ironic uh?
My biggest achievement could be my recognition among 8 very prestigious designers to showcase in Tokyo, Japan this end of August. Out of about 50 designers, I was chosen among the few as one of the best at a recent show in L.A. Likewise, my achievements show in my vast participations in shows, my repeated buyers, and my own events. I’m passionate about what I do and I think that transfers to my pieces as well as the much fun I have in creating them.
