Swarovksi Fashion Week: Halston Creates New Vibe for New Decade

Halston is brand that’s a genuine legend on TV, movies, in magazines and in fashion. It was a really special brand and fashion presentation in the eighties and now it’s time to reinvent the brand courtesy of the new designer.

Essentially this Halston collection is by UK designer Marios Schwab,

and there is another Halston Heritage line that will be the baby of Sarah Jessica Parker as Chief Creative Officer. Is she giving up her day job? Heck no, but based on the specific designs of others, she will give thumbs up or down.

Given the designs shown not via a runway show but a strict statue-like presentation, it’s obvious that Schwab was trying to keep the essence of Halston but mesh it into a contemporary aesthetic. No mean feat, either, though while some pieces genuinely do work, others seem futuristic, like works still in progress, while others just don’t seem to slip into place. However given the legacy that Schwab is trying to follow and mold, he’s got a good start. The use of Swarovski details is clearly seen in many dresses. Some are looking like things you have already seen in department stores, others are drop-dead gorgeous–and dangerous to credit cards, particularly when there are still several lines yet to be featured.
