Fourth of July Leftovers Turn Into Great Eats Courtesy of SpecialEats.com

It’s now the July 5th and if you had a bbq or some sort of party, maybe you have some left-overs that you need to do something with (other than making drinks). Here’s a few great suggestions from a great “foodie” site called Serious Eats. Their newsletter, blog and site are chock-full of amazing recipes that are fun, interesting and exotic.

Here are some suggestions from Serious Eats– a newsletter/website that I subscribe to for interesting food ideas and a several of these I would definitely recommend.

Cubano sandwich

Cubanos: What to do with leftover roast pork: make them into Cubanos, pressed sandwiches filled with ham, roast pork, Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and yellow mustard.
( perfect guy sandwich)

Greek-American Lamb Gyros: How to make this seasoned ground lamb pita sandwich at home.

Bacon Cheddar Broiled Grits: Bacony, cheesy, creamy, corny goodness is easy to love. (these sound heavenly)

4 Ways to Use Lettuce (Other Than Salad): Make it into soup or sauce, put it on the grill, or stir-fry it.

Tacos de Buche (Pork Stomach Tacos): Unlike beef tripe, pork stomach breaks down during cooking so that it’s tender and only slightly chewy. If you’re new to pork stomach, try it in tacos. ( Here in LA this would be a hot ticket in town. Not sure if I have the cojones or skill to cook this up correctly, but it’s worth a shot if you can get the ingredients)

I went to the site for unusual desserts and found an array of things within this post:The Crisper Whisperer: Sweet and Savory — 5 Summer Foods That Swing Both Ways

Suggestion on this one: Make up the Avocado-coconut milkshake and add a shot of coconut rum to it or something with some kick (hmmm acai spirits? Pama? ) . Make sure you add good ice cream to it and blend it not too thick.. and add some grated nutmeg and a bit of chopped mint on top. Yum!
