Chickens and roosters are crazy .. you don’t seen them much in the suburbs or sometimes it’s mostly in rural areas in coops. Not in Kauai– where they are a dominant feature of the landscape. As pervasive as the gorgeous flowers (hibiscus, plumeria, and other specieis), these animals are all over the place. Roosters crow at all hours from 4:30 AM ( thank you mr. alarm clock) as well as at sunset which typically is about 7:30- 8 PM
What’s interesting is that the Kauai lifestyle works around them. If they are around, they are tolerated. They have tees dedicated to them– even cocktails. No matter where you go, they are there.
For those of you that haven’t been to Kauai, or question whether they are really around, here’s an ode to the Kauai poultry family: roosters, chickens and chicks in this video.
