In honor of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire cable show from Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter (“The Sopranos”), Boardwalk Empire, which takes viewers back to Prohibition-era Atlantic City.
Creating an feeling of authenticity of the bootleggers and gamblers era , the unofficial sponsor of Prohibition, Canadian Club, and HBO partnered up to incorporate the spirit into the show. Located just over the border in Windsor, Canada, Canadian Club was able to continue legally producing whisky throughout the 20s. It is rumored that CC quickly became a favorite of Al Capone who operated a lucrative business smuggling the spirit across the Detroit River and it’s the whisky behind the expression “The Real McCoy.”
2 parts Canadian Club® Sherry Cask Whisky
2 dashes of bitters
1 splash of spring water
1 tsp sugar
1 maraschino cherry
1 orange wedge
Mix sugar, water and bitters in an old-fashioned glass. Drop in a cherry and an orange wedge. Muddle ingredients. Pour in CC, fill with ice, and stir.
1 ½ parts Canadian Club® Whisky
½ parts DeKuyper® Anisette
½ parts DeKuyper® Triple Sec
¼ parts Maraschino Liqueur
1 dash of Bitters
Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Drop in a cherry
In a tall glass filled with ice add:
1 part Canadian Club® Reserve 10-Year Whisky
3 parts Lemonade
Top with club soda
Garnish with a lemon wheel
1 ½ parts Canadian Club® Whisky
¾ parts DeKuyper® Amaretto Liqueur
2 parts Pineapple Juice
1 part Orange Juice
2 dashes of Grenadine
Build cocktail in order over ice in a tall highball glass allowing the grenadine to slowly sink through cocktail.
