12 Drinks of Christmas #9 New Year’s Eve Sparkler!!
Twin Pomegranate wine is a new brand out that’s really different.. and has some twists to it that make it tasty and maybe even good for you. (You know pomegranates have anti-oxidants don’t you? Of course you do.)
Twin Pomegranate Wines are made from pure Californian pomegranate wine is grown locally and processed in San Luis Obispo, CA, from the exotic and healthy super fruit known as the pomegranate. The hand-selected pomegranates are picked at their optimum ripeness to ensure good color and high sugar. The fruit is then is crushed and made into a delicious and unique fruit wine. Twin Pomegranates believes it’s important to maintain the value and integrity of the fruit so their wine for Fresno is as close in flavor and health benefits for which the pomegranate is well known. Their first vintage, bottled in August 2009, is their staple 100% pomegranate wine.
Their second vintage includes a red, a pomagrante -blended white and a sparkling wine. I have tried the White– which is quite interesting and would do well blended into a punch cocktail or the basis for a cocktail — one of which I haven’t created yet but thinking about what else to go with it. The sparkling pomegranate wine– yummy!! Slightly sweet, definitely bubbly and worth using in the cocktail below!!
Pomegranate Stockholm Royal
Mix in a shaker tin:
1oz citrus vodka
1/4oz triple sec
splash of sweet and sour
Strain into sugar rimmed martini glass
Add 1.5 oz of Twin Pomegranates Sparkling Wine
finish with 1/2 oz of Chambord.

Happy New Year– and if you can’t find this locally in Calif, you need to order it and make do with a different version using POM juices– not nearly the same consistency but you could create something interesting I am sure!
