This is the last of the “sweets” reviews! The is the last chocolate review for holidays. I know that Christmas is over and when you read this, it will be Sunday but if you would like to have some of the miraculous chocolates, you best head to the website to get them ordered now OR get on the phone Monday and get the ordered started so that you have some after the New Year . Why after the new year? Because, (guys and dolls), this is a brand you might not want to share –ever! If you share these with your friends, they will be gobbled up in nothing flat and these are waaaaaaaaaaay too good to have that happen. These chocolates are meant to be slowly savored, tasted, nibbled, and done slowly. This chocolate brand is Antoine Amrani Chocolates (www.aachocolates.com
Thank you to Antoine Amrani who sent me a 6 pc. box of Assorted Chocolates; a 5 pc. box of champagne truffles (to die for!! -and are sold out for the holiday so that’s part of the reason for the wait) and the Harvest Caramel Ganache — which to my understanding is no longer available but at least the review will give you an idea of the depth of flavor and how creative, astute and ingenious Antoine Amrani is. The box said 10 pcs- but mine was only 9. It didn’t bother me a bit. It just meant I had to figure out what each piece was and be slower with the missing extra piece of that flavor.
Antoine Amrani has created an amazing brand. There is a video at this link:
http://www.aachocolates.com/movies/channel3.html about the boom of luxury chocolates that make distinctive luxury are available and affordable to everyone. How could chocolates be so delectable, indulgent and yet still be affordable? Because you aren’t buy a 1 pound of pieces, but a piece or less than 10 pieces at a time. These are chocolates meant to be enjoyed slowly with delicacy and attention.
What makes Antoine Amrani Chocolates so special? Some of it has to do with ingredients.
They source their ingredients from the finest artisanal suppliers- local and organic growers and farms from around the globe. The purity of the ingredients is tasted with the first bite of each flavor and are entirely preservative-free.
The paperboard is made with 100% recycled and 90% post consumer content and contains no harmful chemicals or metals. The signature brown paper is FSC certified, carbon neutral, and manufactured using Green-e certified wind energy. When you finish the chocolates, why not remove the tray and re-purpose these boxes in your home?
Ok, let’s skip past the basic 411 and move into the most important part– the taste!!
The Champagne Truffles are golden-covered dark chocolate that burst forth with an almost sparkling liquid version of Moët & Chandon® Imperial Champagne blended with chocolate ganache. It’s hard to describe the flavor except your eye might start to roll back into their sockets as the flavor of the champagne and exquisite dark chocolate hit the tongue and start to evolve. The sensation is truly intoxicating – and I don’t mean liquor intoxication. It’s about flavors and blending and the unique talent of Antoine Amrani who has captured both Moet Imperial Champagne and dark ganache in a chocolate shell. Incredible!!
The Assorted Chocolates: TO DIE FOR!! From Pure Dark (with the painted exterior); Earl Grey (I swear you can smell and taste the Earl Grey fragrance) with a similar painted exterior; Coffee Sour Cherry ( a flavor blend I never thought I would find – and it’s indescribably decadent); Hazelnut Praline (I adore pralines- this is so incredible); Organic Coconut Kaffir Lime (an intoxicating blend of flavors that will transport you to a tropical island); and Duo Cafe (a rich blend of coffees that is a robust flavor much like a cup of exquisite coffee).
The Elf Bait is amazing. Crunchy, tasty, dark chocolate and it’s extremely addictive (like potato chips only better). This is something you either buy and hoard or share and expect it to be gone – fast!!
The limited edition seasonal collection for fall: Harvest Caramel Ganache. While no longer available, I managed to snag a box and here are the absolutely incredible flavors: Chestnut Nutmeg (lovely, spicy and really rich in texture with a flavorful evolution); Vanilla Maple Liquid Caramel (think of real maple syrup flavor and texture with a rich vanilla theme and the liquid caramel interior in a rich dark chocolate shell); and truly seasonal Pumpkin Gingerbread( luxe, luscious and totally within the season– it’s perfect for Thanksgiving but even more so for Christmas. Wish they had kept this flavor on board. The subtle pumpkin underscores the bite of the gingerbread which is rich and flavorful and then the pumpkin emerges and your mouth goes “wow” with the flavor explosion)
This is one fantastic line of chocolates. This isn’t the first or last time you will hear about this chocolatier. This will be one of those headlining brands — right up there with the first brand I mentioned in the round-up. Amrani has incredible talent and is exceptionally creative in his flavor blends. Now we just need to learn how and what to pair them with because these are killer. I can think that the seasonal collection I just covered would work well with seasonal cocktails like eggnog, champagne, some hot toddy made with rum or whiskey and a few others. (Give me a few minutes and I can think of more — but I am running on a chocolate high here.)
