I saw a a lot of movies this year and I have to say that I saw this trailer quite a few times and I was NOT sure what this movie was about. I didn’t see it in theaters and I noticed it didn’t stick around in theaters very long either.
Trailer ” I Am Number 4″ .
When I was given a opportunity to review this movie, I took a chance to see this movie. It was clear this was a science fiction movie and when I finally got a chance to get to this movie, I found that within 20 minutes, that this movie was nothing like the trailers– it wasn’t just a teen flick. It wasn’t just slick science fliction flick filled with special effects and little plot.
Quite the contrary, this movie has a great plot line that tracks these aliens visiting here on earth trying to stay alive from the creatures who destroyed their world and there are only few specially bred aliens left from that off-earth civilization to keep the species alive– and each alien who looks just like a human has special powers. I don’t want to “spoil” the plot of this movie.
1) There is a significant plot and it ends with a hope for a sequel (unlikely but hopefully Dreamworks will bring one out)
2) The sprecial effects are stellar and enhance the movie but do not dominate it. The FX underscore the plot and help it move forward and are in some sequences quite thrilling.
3) This is a family movie — but perhaps not for the very small kids because the bad aliens are gruesome-looking.
4) There are plot twists and turns that come out at the end that I could not have foreseen — and I am quite good at dissecting plots in advance. This movie has a lot going for it.
5) On the Blu-Ray version, there are deleted scenes that aren’t available on the DVD. In other words, buy — or rent– the Blu-Ray . There are also blooper sequences too.. which should not be viewed until after you have seen the entire movie!!
6) The acting was realistic and believeable. There was a reality within the context of this movie that one gets sucked into and I like that when I am seeing movies that require a suspension of disbelief. This movie easily accomplishes that suspension and it’s fun, worthwhile movie.
Extended Trailer ” I Am Number 4″ .
I highly recommend this movie. “I Am Number Four” really has a lot going for it and I liked watching it (twice!). It’s a great gift for dad or grad or anyone else. It’s definitely going to capture your attention. Check it out — and watch it a second time because you will see things you didn’t catch the first time because those llittle nuances are like hidden easter eggs..
