Currently the operative words in my closet are “edit, edit, edit; donate, donate, donate, share, share, share”. I am clearing out things that don’t or didn’t work giving them to friends or the kid, donating to my favorite charities; then rewind, repeat — though I have some items that need to hit EBAY! I even have garage sales for voluminous amounts of things I manage to accumulate or need to clear out (old books, cds, clothing and more!) As often I as clear out, I am in a store at least browsing.
It’s a confession I have to make.. while I love scouring vintage and thrift stores; rummage through the sale racks of various boutiques; samples sales are de riguere or outlet mall shopping and even occasionally hit a department or speciality store to find something that works within my wardrobe, I am online sifting through the various stores online as well as LOTD spots and places like polyvore to see how to put it together. While my scores in the last couple years have been major: the Magaschoni cashmere cardi with paillettes for under $30 (!!), a J Crew destructed crew neck tank with jewelry embellishment at neckline and sleeves for $13 (!!!); 2 different pair of shoes– one Seychelles maryjane ($40!!!!) and one Poetic License stiletto sandal with a flower at the ankle ($45!!!) and a killer vintage Dolce & Gabbana wool boucle brown/gold/caramel 2 piece suit snagged for $30 (!!!!) and. (Just got the skirt back from the tailor. Have to check the jacket for any tweaking.)
We all have our favorite go-to places– though you can find me in children’s stores looking at XL boys (not teens — BOYS) shirts and jackets, because the fit and styling is ideal for my closet mix. More often than not, I cannot resist hitting my local GAP store.
Honestly, I am friends with one of the managers and she and I browse the store together or she will pull things for me when I walk in the door.
Insane right? I know what’s running through your head– how can she buy GAP? What does she find there?
The same sort of edgy look that I find at Target or H&M (2 dresses yet to wear from them) or Urban Outfitters, yet I can mix it up — with staples in the closet. However the GAP brand has been evolving and I carefully curate what I buy from them– because it calls to me and reflects my personal style and works within the context of my closet and also my personality.
As you watch this video, realize that I have a slew of GAP things and that occasionally I will post another confessional essay about what I love that came from the GAP. Come to think of it, I am waiting on an online order now. Can’t wait to see how this one works out.
PS. I buy so much there I am a GAP SILVER card person. They need to create a gold one just for me. HONEST! Most people have no clue that what I am wearing either came from Target, Gap, JCrew, Theory, Tahari, specialty/designer lines (on sale no less). Rarely do I pay full price– because I believe in sales!

So if you see a photo of me here– it’s because I am going to break down what I am wearing and I am going to share a video I did last year that’s not been seen about how to mix and match clothes- for less!
I’ve gone ahead and bookmarked http://109.73.236.127/~lastory8/2011/10/confessions-of-a-gap-aholic-excerpt-1-video-on-what-gap-studio-peeps-wear-to-work at Digg.com so my friends can see it too. I simply used Confessions of a Gap-aholic… Excerpt #1 Video on What Gap Studio Peeps Wear to Work! | LA-Story.com as the entry title in my Digg.com bookmark, as I figured if it is good enough for you to title your blog post that, then you probably would like to see it bookmarked the same way.“
