Haute Holiday Fashion & Beauty Finds for New Years Eve! Glam It Up!!
Ok so maybe you didn’t get everything you hoped for from Santa this Christmas. Well given that it’s after Christmas, now’s the timem to find some bargains– and even if these aren’t on sale, these items are definitely worth having
For the comfortable yet dressy look for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, skip the LBD in favor of LBPs – Little Black Pants! Combining a fit that flatters and a flirt-worthy finish, the Faith Straight Leg and Grace Bootcut in Black Blended Velveteen from Cj by Cookie Johnson let women ring in the New Year while wearing fashionable gear.
Perfect with a silk top or a great tissue cashmere sweater and anything with some metallic going on!
Pairing the right jacket with those jeans isn’t easy but you can never go wrong with leather from Yes Virginia. In fact, you can kick it up a notch with a serious statement jacket like Estella ($795).
This boldly assymetrical jacket speaks volumes about your personal style while you don’t have to say a word. Available in 3 colors: tobacco brown, burnt orange and navy blue, you would be able to wear this year-round pretty much since it’s warm yet lightweight. The magnetic closure is the secret to the flat front.
Maybe that’s not your style– or your budget– but handbags are definitely seen as statements and here are two that allow you to make that statement.
Esperanza’s Circles ($499) is a handmade bag that is so simple, so chic and downright cool that this would be your everyday bag because it’s “you”. Made from ever so soft calf leather with brass studs, I love the the simplicity and the splash this bag makes. It’s available in navy or black– but if you have another color in mind, talk to Virginia. It will just take a bit longer
The other bag might seem to pale in comparison but not when you realize how the low-key versatility makes this chic and practical all at the same time.
Elina’s Square Sac ($459) is soft supple calf leather in black or red and the shape is sleek, chic and practical all at the same time. It’s small enough to be perfectly suited to evening use and the two full top zips and one big front zip make this bag sing as a day bag.
Shoes: it’s all up to you darlin’.. I can give you a few of my recent favorites but it all depends on what you are wearing and where you are going.. but try pumps or booties.
So pretty much that covers most things except your jewelry. I will say this: if you have cool toned hair color and skintone– go with silver. If you have warm toned hair and/or skintone go with gold! You can’t go wrong with that. Don’t forget either a statement ring or a stack of bangles– but not both.
The best part is the part where you get to play makeup artist and here’s a couple of products that you REALLY need to test drive: Colorscience Loose Mineral Powder Shadows in shimmer gold and shimmer silver (they have matte versions too but for a New Year’s Eve–why would you want to use that?)
Gold Shimmer Loose Powder.
Silver Shimmer Powder
Make Up Tips from National Makeup Artist, Michael McCarthy:
> Use the gold and silver shadows mixed to get a neutral shimmer that works for all eye colors.
> Wet the shadows, with CS Perfecting Mist, and paint on lids for a wet, hydrated– rather than metallic — lid.
> Line inside the wet rim of the lid first, then in the lash line, smudge gold or silver shadow into the black liner with the CS mini-angle brush to create shimmer-smokey eye.
> Coat lips generously with Nude lip serum; fill lip in with rose lip pencil; apply more lip serum; and tap center of lip with gold loose shadow for extra pout.
Have a good time picking out your outfit. Lots of things will be on sale so you might find some serious scores to help balance off the expenditure for a new outfit!
