Holiday Glam! Getting Gorgeous Hair for New Year’s Eve! Celeb & Runway Hair Stylist Marki Shkreli Tells You HOW!

I have been lucky enough to connect with a killer hair stylist who is bi-coastal with the best of the stylists. He works the runway shows for fashion weeks in various countries but particularly for Dior, Chanel and some amazing European brand names. Make note of his name:
Marki Shkreli . He won’t be a stranger to you for very long because he’s not a stranger to those in the fashion world particularly in Europe and celebrities world-wide. Here’s HIS take on gorgeous hair for New Year’s Eve.

The key holiday trend for 2011 is “totally glamorous”. A lot of women who had very long hair now want shoulder length, one length hair with no layers. I am in love with how women are wanting to wear their hair now. For many years ,90 percent of my clients had very long hair and wouldn’t discuss going shorter. By going shorter , this draws the eye to focus on the face – enhancing your features instead of hiding them which women with longer hair tend to do.
I suggest women try working just one color: either very blonde or dark. I love the contrast and has a great 1960’s vibe to me. Watching films with movie stars from the 60’s like Virna Lisi really inspire me. Her shoulder length hair was just fabulous.

My favorite tools are:
Ny peach color Mason Pearson brush;
Rat-tail comb;
Hot rollers;
and all of my Marcel Curling Irons.

Every single style –no matter if the girl wants big beautiful hair or sleek modern hair– is started with the same process.

• After shampooing, I towel-dry the hair until it’s almost dry and then spray a thickening spray (Leonor Greyl Voluforme) followed by a mouse (Leonor Greyl’s Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice).

• Combing the hair with my Mason Pearson to make sure the product is evenly distributed.
• Using a medium-size round brush, I blow-dry the hair. Once the hair is dry, the hair will do whatever you want– because of the product added to it.
At this point , you decide what you want :big beautiful hair or straight sleek hair?
If you want the big beautiful hair, I highly suggest buying hot rollers. My favorite brand is Babyliss. After putting in the rollers , let the rollers cool for about 20 minutes. Use the following steps for styling.
• Comb out the hair;
• Spray the Mason Pearson with hairspray (Leonor Greyl’s Laque Souple) to get rid of the fly aways and make the hair very beautiful.

My secret for a bad hair day is using Batiste Dry Shampoo. The main reason for a bad hair day is oil. When you don’t shampoo your hair for a few days, your scalp produces natural oils may create lifeless, limp hair.

When applying the Dry Shampoo, section your hair so that the product is distributed evenly and spray from about 12 inches away, upside down and let the product settle for about 2 minutes. After that waiting period, style your hair normally and the difference is noticeable. The hair looks just like it did a few days ago and smells amazing!

Each product mentioned here was selected by Marki Shkreli himself. I just found links and he gave me the photos of the products he likes to use.
