Fingernail polish seems to be the hot hot category for holidays this year and one of the coolest– and easiest– things you can buy because often there are a gazillion colors plus the price points range from a couple bucks to upwards of $20!
Now if you are looking for the low-end price range you can hit stores like Target, Ulta and drugstores to scoop up a batch of polishes in tons of amazing colors for about $25 bucks that you can pair up the mild + wild colors for a nail-crazy BFF or the person at the office whom you notice wears a lot of polish. Don’t be shy- because 2-3 polishes can make a huge difference in their look (even if you can’t see the polish because maybe it’s on the toes.) The colors available are a rainbow of hues and while I have spent a couple bucks for Sinful Colors— I can’t say that it lasted me an entire week — even with a pedicure.
However I did get a bead on how to take a high quality polish and update it and keep it looking fresh before redoing the entire manicure or pedicure. Make sure you have a “healthY” polish that is good for your nails which means it’s free of toxic chemicals like DBP, toluene and formaldehyde. There are several brands out there – but I have found one that also includes some natural ingredients that will help your nails stay healthy, nourished and looking better than ever.
Dr.’s REMEDY® Enriched Nail Polish: includes these ingredients for healthy, strong nails which means the polish is even safe to use on children!
•Tea Tree Oil: an essential oil obtained from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifornia, which is found to have antiseptic and antifungal activity.
•Garlic Bulb Extract: contains Allicin, a powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agent that joins forces with Vitamin C to help kill harmful germs.
•Vitamins C&E: for healthier skin and nails.
•Wheat Protein: a vegetable derived, high quality protein which contains moisture binding capabilities and naturally increases shine.
The Fall 2011 collection bridges perfectly into holiday because with a coat of sparkles or crackle you can change it into something spectacular.
Here’s the fall collection colors:
DEFENSE Deep Red : A rich bordeaux with a mystifying matte finish
NOBEL Navy : A sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings dimension to tips and toes alike
BALANCE Brick : A modern maroon with body and balance
Here’s what I did last (pedicure). I started with a Dr’s Remedy polish from the fall collection BALANCE which is a beautiful creme warm red and I stuck with that for a couple weeks and then added in a fresh layer and some contrasting gold glitter and a top coat to “seal” the deal.
For Holiday 2011, the collection has gone to glitter as well with a great collection of 4 sparkle colors that will have you shimmering as you should be during this holiday season!
JOLLY & JOY. is the name of the five shades that are rich, riveting, and radiant. And the best part: the colors are traditional in scope but not on scale; meaning red and green – yes, the docs have you covered. See for yourself in the best holiday collection yet: Dr.’s REMEDY JOLLY & JOY for holiday 2011.
