Day 2 dawned on me as a better but so much busier day. I had 2 appointments in Santa Monica and knowing that one was a lunch appt, I had to check out the restaurant (location & menu) before I got there.
I worked out in the AM before I left and had spent more than 30 mins — between walking the dog, reformer and some other floor/mat work.
Here’s my menu for the day.
Breakfast
Paleta Purify Shake 2 scoops with Almond Butter in it.
Snack:
Paleta Purify Shake
Lunch:
Cinnamon Apple Crumble, Toasted Nuts
Snack:
Paleta Purify Shake
Dinner:
Toasted Quinoa, Kale & Black Bean Stuffed Bell Peppers with Pico de Gallo
Snack:
Paleta Purify Shake
The first shake of the day was a bit harder because I hadn’t let the almond butter soften first but just tossed it into the drink and shook it up. I tossed everything into a blender when I realized it wasn’t mixing well and then poured it back in. Tasty but cold first thing but it helped that I had herbal tea as well to balance off the situation.
Having worked out and was running out the door, I made sure I had 3 x 8 oz bottles of water and took off for Santa Monica. My first appointment was a breeze and the second appointment was lunch.
That was tricky. The menu online was not as complete as the menu in the restaurant so I was thrilled to find VEGGIE Tacos with rice and black beans. I took a chance and ordered that and was even happier when the tortillas arrived separate from the veggies which were roasted and grilled peppers, squash and onions and black beans that were fresh (meaning not canned) and I just skipped on the rice. (Ok. Truth time– I had ONE bite of rice and beans and then skipped the rice).
I ordered herbal tea and had 2 pots of it ( I think I was going to float away!) .
The veggies were awesome and that was a real blessing because it was right in tune with what Paleta wanted– fresh veggies that were pretty plain but tasty. I left feeling good wondering if I would eat dinner and have a shake too. That was so much food.
Upon arriving back at the office– getting some emails answered and then hitting home, I had a shake and decided to skip dinner. I again mixed in some grapefruit juice, tart cherry juice and water in not so equal parts. The grapefruit juice and cherry juice together make for a very tart strong combo so less of that and more of water. Shake it up and then drank it within about 20 mins.
More herbal tea and of course I was starting to feel a bit odd– like a bit fuzzy around the edges. However I had to attend my networking event. I bought an olive hummus, a bag of carrots and sliced a cucumber, there was my part of the pot luck and I definitely had food I could eat– at least the veggies. I know that wine was being served along with lemonade and others brought some great dishes but I was so committed to this that even my friend Jennifer who hosted this event at her home was surprised that I was sticking to this program so diligently– lemon water and all. I didn’t cheat. So despite going out to lunch and having an event, there are ways to have a life while doing a cleanse. You just have to think it through– and be commited. If you know me, you know I am committed when I do something I think is valuable. I learned something about myself that despite taking a ribbing from the kid and the significant other and even a couple of friends, I still stuck with this program.
Day 3 is the half-way mark!
