Tips on Maintaining Positivity for the New Year-2013– Courtesy of Sass Ashe!

Everyone seems to start the New Year out with positivity. There are goals to meet and resolutions to keep, we’ve promised to keep in touch with friends and family after the holidays and we have so much to do to get back to our normal routines. This tends to last for at least a week or two, then suddenly we find that we’re to busy, too stressed and too involved with work and home that we don’t keep that positive momentum going.

The first step to maintaining your  “get-up-and-go” for the whole year is to make sure that you have time for yourself. Whether you meditate, read, crochet or simply watch mindless television for a while it’s important to take time out of each day to simply unwind. When you don’t let your mind and body slow down and relax it can affect your sleep, your stress level and yes, your attitude toward other areas of your life.

Setting long term goals is a great way to keep yourself working positively throughout the year. We all tend to start the New Year off with resolutions and big plans- but allow them to slide to the back burner. If you sit down at the beginning of the year and create milestones or goals for each month you’ll find that you tend to work toward those goals better than simply saying “this year I will lose weight”. Set a goal for each month and be sure to plan to reward yourself for meeting your goals too!

Trying new things and developing new interests is a great way to stay motivated and positive. Do you love to dance? Who says you’re too old to go bungee jumping? Why can’t you take a cooking class? There are so many things in the world that many of us never experience- don’t miss out on something you are interested in. Make the time!

Create a mantra to help you work through stressful times and find your positivity during those trying events. No one is perfect, no one has a great day every day, but you can keep a positive outlook throughout the year, it just takes a bit of effort.

  1. Thanks so much for letting me join up with L.A. Story through the holidays Stevie.
