Wine is always involved in virtually every holiday and special event– whether it’s a red carpet or your own personal TGIF! A relatively new brand has launched: The Divining Rod Wines by Marc Mondavi
This fairly young brand is fascinating because it’s part of the 4 generations of Mondavi winemakers. From Peter Mondavi Sr’s side of the family, Marc Mondavi took everything he knew about wine and blended it with a special “talent” – a gift if you will known as dowsing or “water witching”.
Alycia Mondavi talks about her dad, the “water witch”
Not only does he grow great grapes and create tasty wines, but he is a highly skilled and very accurate water witch with his “divining rods” that help him find water where even geologists have been unable to find wine.
I was lucky enough to snag some SERIOUS time for a podast/phone interview with Marc Mondavi. I thought it was 30 + minutes. Hang onto your wine glasses boys & girls– this conversation went on for almost an hour. Marc Mondavi shares a lot about his thoughts on water witching; micro-climates; the growth of the wine industry and lots more. If you are an oenophile, you will love this. If you like drinking wine (same thing in simpler terms), you will love this.
The result of the family’s hard work and efforts are two different varietals:
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
2010 Chardonnay (Santa Lucia Highlands)

Don’t forget to buy the wines! At least 2-3 bottles each because one is not enough!!
Thanks to Marc Mondavi for his generous time. Stay tuned for a video of Divining Rod Wines at the Oscar Suite by TMG!!
