Its getting into spring and the weather shifting dramatically from snow to warm sun and back again to at the very least rain and 30 degree temperature drops. Not only does it make it hard to get dressed, it’s hard to stay well. What this kind of weather pattern, it plays havoc on skin and hair. Skin is easier to handle simply because you have a ton of product out there to use from treatments to moisturizer and sunscreens. However what’s a person to do about their hair? Dry brittle ends, oily scalp, hair color shifts and maybe because of this shift in the weather, you haven’t gotten the regular t to do about your hair. There’s a reason that you need to be reading this post.
I managed to snag a free treatment at THEBROOT in Santa Monica on Montana. It was a cold wintery afternoon and evening by the time I left but I looked amazing. They created an amazing blend of stuff for me and it was heaven sitting under the hair dryer. I did get them to blow dry my hair because I was heading to an event (Social Media Club LA) and it was brutally windy outside and I wanted to look good. Glad I did too. Here’s why. As queen of hair treatments and products, I usually have a cocktail of stuff to put on my hair. After one of these treatments, there wasn’t a SINGLE STYLING product used to give me smooth, shiny, non-frizzy locks. I mean my hair looked AWESOME!!! The best hair treatment I have ever seen and my hair looked fabulous for (get this) TEN DAYS!!
No chemicals, no preservatives, no mess, is the philosophy behind TheBroot, the world’s first hair treatment bar located in Santa Monica, California. After years of messing up her own bathroom mashing up fruits, vegetables and oils in a quest to find all-natural hair solutions, Samira Asemanfar decided it was time to create a place where she (and people like her) can go to reap the benefits of natural hair mask therapy without the bother of the mess and cleanup that comes with it.
TheBroot all-natural hair care bar menu contains raw organic ingredients to treat tresses using recipes that have been handed down through generations. With treatment choices that include a variety of ingredients to help nourish, moisturize, restore and repair hair ailments from dry hair to scalp repair, TheBroot focuses solely on organic hair masks striving for excellence with every head they treat.
Mask options include varieties of Avocado, Banana, Egg, Mayonnaise and Honey with Coconut, Jojoba, Olive Oils and more.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved making my own hair masks,” says Samira, founder of TheBroot. “As I got older and life got busier, it became a hassle to actually go through the steps and then have to clean it all up! TheBroot is my solution to that and I am excited to share it with the world.”
TheBroot philosophy is meant to turn one inward as well as outward. TheBroot promotes gratitude and positivity with the intent of nurturing not just the hair but the soul as well. The experience is a relaxing one.
Clients are welcomed by a ‘Brootender’ to assist them in finding the right treatment plan for their hair type. Once the mask is mixed and applied, heat is administered and guests relax with complimentary music, books and refreshments. Before leaving TheBroot, hair is rinsed and clients have the choice of a wet braid or bun, adding on a blow out service or self-styling at the vanity area.
Treatments cost $35 in the bar or can be made for takeout for $25.
TheBroot is located at 1626 Montana Avenue, Santa Monica, CA, 90403.

Thanks to THEBROOT for the great treatment? Would I go there again? YES! Is it worth it? YES!!!! Is it worth doing this at home with their DIY concoction ? YES!! I would have happily paid for this one and will do so again because my hair looked GREAT! This shows you that you don’t need to spend a TON of money on products to get great looking hair. Sometimes it’s as far away as your refrigerator.. but less messy if you go to THEBROOT!!
