Be Gorgeous Day to Night, Year-Round with “Flawless Foundation Commandments” from Amanda Green, Guest Post from SkincareHQ.org’s Blogger

Foundation is a one of the trickiest beauty products. Nobody’s skin is exactly the same tone and it’s often hard to match much less find the right texture or foundation presentation that works with your skintype! SkincareHQ.org‘s blogger Amanda Green has all the tips you need to have to get the best foundation fit for your skin!

If you want flawless foundation, you absolutely must know and use the following commandments. Read them, learn them, know them by heart, and use them every time you apply your foundation in order to have truly flawless foundation…every time.

Know The Proper Way To Apply Your Foundation

If you want your foundation to look flawless, it is essential that you know how to properly apply it . The key is in using just the right amount. The easy way to know if you are using the right amount is to look in the mirror! If your face is sufficiently covered but not cakey or fake looking, you have the right amount. If it isn’t sufficiently covered, you haven’t used enough. If it looks cakey or fake, you have used too much. Second is that you should work in small areas of your face. Begin at the brow line and gently apply your foundation using a circular motion until it is fully blended in. If you have oily skin, you should start with a primer before application. No matter your skin type, you should always set your foundation with a good powder.

Use The Right Foundation For Your Skin Type

Make sure that you are using a foundation that compliments your skin type. Oily skin types need something that is oil-free,while dry skin types may actually benefit from something with a little extra oil in it. Not sure why it’s so important to make sure a foundation is right for your skin type? Well, it’s actually very simple. If someone with oily skin uses a foundation for dry skin types, they will end up with even oilier skin. (Check out this post for top 5 foundation picks!) If a dry skin type chooses one for oily skin types, they’ll end up being all dried out. A quick read over the label should tell you what skin types would best benefit from that foundation.

Get Picky About Your Shade

Does your foundation make you look too pale? Too orange? Too dark? Then there is a very good chance that you are using the wrong shade. Learn what shade you actually are and stick to only use that one. A color consultation at a makeup counter can do wonders, and these fine professionals can help you to match up to your exact color every time. If you have to decide on your own, try ordering samples from companies in shades that you think will match you. Do a swatch test on your arm (or on your face and see which one turns almost invisible on your skin. That’s the shade closest to your tone. If all are extremely noticeable, start again!) to see which ones look the most natural.

Suggestions

I find that my personal favorite foundation is L’Oreal True Match. It offers a shade that exactly matches my natural coloring, and it looks completely natural. Application is effortless, and the coverage is exactly what I need for my own skin issues. I’ve also had very good luck with Bare Minerals, which covers everything and is a real breeze to apply. The coloring, however, wasn’t perfect for me. If you can find an exact color shade in what Bare Minerals has to offer, I would definitely suggest going for it!

Those three commandments are all that you need to learn and know in order to have perfectly flawless foundation every time. If you have any questions about what we’ve said here, or would like to offer up a tip or two of your own, please feel free to do so in the comments below. We look forward to hearing from you!
