Wonderfully Weird is back for a third round of guest blog posts on fashion and accessories. This one is a bit broader but Kanarian Kindred and I think you can handle it. Otherwise why would you be here?
In today’s society it seems everyone is chasing the next big thing, especially in fashion. Whether it’s the new Jordan’s, Prada slippers, or Louboutin’s, everyone wants a piece of top products. This is fine but what about those with a weird sense of style? The person that marches to the beat of their own drum, while straying from the normal fashion market.
Have no fear because Wonderfully Weird has arrived. The weekly blog posting various fashion items including: clothing, jewelry, shoes, and styling tips considered odd by others. My style is different from most because it focuses on funky, different, and classy pieces others tend to shy away from. Here is a small sample of my taste, and I look forward to sharing my works weekly with the group.
This week features items from the psychedelic 60s. A time where peace, drugs, hippies and free love were a part of the norm across the globe; especially among young adults. In my opinion, it was also a great era of odd fashion statements for the masses. Here are a few of my personal favorites.
Andre Courreges
André Courrèges, (born March 9, 1923, Pau, France), dress designer who first made a reputation in the Parisian fashion world of the 1960s for futuristic, youth-oriented styles. In 1961 Courrèges opened his own fashion house, and by 1964 he had become established as one of the most original couturiers in Paris. His collection featured proportionate, well-cut pants, rigidly constructed clothes with smooth “trapeze,” or trapezoidal, lines, and short skirts, with white midcalf boots and large, dark glasses as accessories. White became his trademark. Source: Encyclopedia Britannica

Mary Quant
Mary Quant OBE, FCSD (born 11 February 1934) is a fashion designer and British fashion icon. She became an instrumental figure in the 1960s London-based Mod and youth fashion movements. She was one of the designers who took credit for the miniskirt and hot pants, and by promoting these and other fun fashions she encouraged young people to dress to please themselves and to treat fashion as a game. Ernestine Carter, an authoritative and influential fashion journalist of the 1950s and ’60s, wrote: “It is given to a fortunate few to be born at the right time, in the right place, with the right talents. In recent fashion there are three: Chanel, Dior, and Mary Quant Source: Wikipedia
