FRAGments #10, Roxana Villa, Roxana’s Illuminated Perfumes Talks about Fragrance Creation! #Podcast!
FRAGments is/was an an indie, artisanal and underground event that pulled together spectacular brands from the West Coast and beyond! This event happened on 6/22 in the Highland Park in the San Fernando Valley in a cool little gallery of more than just wall art, but 3-D art displays as well. As one of the hottest days that spring, it was an intoxicating event.
What’s next in FRAGmnents Spring/Summer 2013? LOTS more to learn about from various fragrance lines. It’s time for another podcast of 2 people from the FRAGment’s event: this time we have Yosh Han representing Yosh Olfactory Sense and Persephenie from Persephenie Studio This was an amazing event and this is one way for you to partake in the event without spending a ton of money!
Given that managed to miss two people at the event, I figured I would give them the option to do a phone podcast with me. Tres cool, they both accepted.
Roxana Villa and Mik Moi were kind enough to give me some significant time. Since it is truly a gift, I wasn’t just going to talk solely about FRAGments but also fragrance creation and the impetus and inspiration for their own work. It was fascinating!
The first of two 30+ minute interviews here to give you more insight into what a indie fragrance designer does and how hard they work — because it is a lot of work and requires an incredible amount of patience.
Roxana’s Illuminated Fragrances had an amazing display at FRAGments 2013 and she displayed the following fragrances:
Roxana displayed six scents at the FRAGments show! The two most important that Roxana mentioned are listed here. Seductive, grounding and hypnotic, they are worth trying the samples of each one. If you want to know what else Roxana featured at FRAGments, send her an email!
FIGURE 1: NOIR LIQUID NATURAL PERFUME (on page 2) –
Figure 1: Noir, a botanical fragrance tailored for those with a passion for the nature scents of the dark forest. A natural perfume featuring roots and precious woods. The fragrance defies genre as it is neither feminine nor masculine.
“Roxana Illuminated Perfume introduces a curious collection of natural perfume narratives beginning with Figure 1: Noir, a fragrance tailored for those with a passion for patchouli. From her tool box of cross fertilized artistic disciplines, Roxana illuminates an eccentric curiosity birthed of primordial earth. Figure 1: Noir is an intriguing perfume oddity, deep and resinous with a loamy plume of botanical musk. The effect is as intimate and universal as human skin with an unsettling wild animalic shadow.”
