While I am wrapping up my 12 Drinks of Christmas series, I got this cool email from the Montage resort in Beverly Hills. Such an exquiste place, and they have this array of cool cocktails they have cooked up for the red carpet events (Golden Globes, SAG Awards, DGA Awards, Oscars and every other big event during this awards season!). Lucky for you I have a partial breakdown for most of the cocktails!
These cocktails are available at the PARQ bar in the Montage Beverly Hills— come for a cocktail, stay for fun and games!
Letter to Saratoga Springs
Movie: 12 Years a Slave
Canadian Whiskey, (Try either Danfield’s Small Batch, Crown Royal, or Centennial 10 year Rye)
Fernet Branca, (a bitter liqueur)
simple syrup,
aromatic bitters
An adaptation of a Manhattan with a Canadian foundation. In the movie Solomon Northrup is a New Yorker from Saratoga Springs who is forced in slavery. He befriends Bass (Brad Pitt), a Canadian, and asks him to get a letter to his wife in Saratoga Springs.
Grand Scam
Movie: American Hustle
Vodka, (options suggested include Stoli Sticki and Stoli Red for the most unique cocktail)
Lillet Rosé, (a fortified-wine blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscatel,)
fresh lemon juice,
Peychaud’s bitters
Reminiscent of a classic martini from the 70s, with a pink twist. This cocktail would be a favorite of the movies female characters Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) and Sydney (Amy Adams).
This is the last official day of the 12 Drinks of Christmas. However that’s not the end of cocktails but only the beginning for 2014!
