The “dog days” of summer are gone– or at least according to Los Angeles standards. It’s remarkably cooler than it was a month ago when I was in process of moving. Packing up was a bear! It was scorching hot and humid at the beach. The temp didn’t drop till about 10 PM and even when I got up to take my puppy out for a walk before 6 AM, I could wear shorts and a tank top and still be comfortable. I felt blessed to move into a place with AC but the unpacking and working around all the things that went wrong in the first month were certainly a trial. It didn’t cool off until about 10 days ago. Since we moved in, the frig broke the first night. Within the first 10 days, the dishwasher died as well. The shower didn’t work right in one of the bathrooms. My car got hit and left with a big dent in the left rear passenger 1/4 panel at Lowes and wound up in the body shop for a week. I couldn’t find a lot of my clothes for almost 3 weeks. And there was monumental unpacking which is still ongoing. I have fallen into bed every night with bones aching. There’s no time for massages though I long to get one. Let’s just say it’s not been boring.

What’s been boring is all the fast food that we have been eating. I don’t like fast food as a whole and I tried to choose healthy places… but it just wasn’t great to eat and it didn’t feel like real food. You might wonder what’s “real food” to me.
I don’t find cooking all that attractive when it’s hot unless I have a grill going. (The BBQ went with the house). I never want to cook much when it’s really hot. I did make a few dishes that could crock pot or just be simple food like breakfast for dinner. Actually I went to FOODIE.com where I have several collections of interesting recipes to find cooking inspiration.
Pomegranate Glazed Green Beans & Portobellos
If you haven’t been to Foodie.com, you should visit for the cooking bug to bite you hard. The recipes are truly inspirational and if you look at enough of them, you can find yourself firing up the stove or food processor or both. It’s inspirational in the way that you want to invite friends over to sit down and have a meal– at a dinner table or in front of the TV for the big game. It’s fun to cook with friends.
When I work on these food round-ups, I find it very inspiring to see what other people do with the foods I like to prepare (like short ribs) as well as new foods to try out or new methods or styles of food preparation. If you are a closet foodie, you should subscribe to foodie or join and create your own collections while documenting all your own recipes and tweaks to recipes. Plus you can partake in the sharing of great holiday recipes for the balance of the year!
I am a member of FOODIE.com I collect recipes and curate content there. (Take a look at my collections!). This is a sponsored post. There is a small compensation for the post. All the curations are my own choices to illustrate my theme (breakfast for dinner). I feature what I like and even some things I might — or might not- eat but these items sound good in terms of general population.
I would love it if you would come join us on Foodie.com and curate what you like. #Follow me for some interesting tweaks on all kinds of foods. I am getting into an ethnic phase so come show me what you like!
