It might see premature to think about prom now.. but it’s not too early. Choosing the right dress is time-consuming. Finding the right makeup isn’t nearly as hard as finding the right hairstyle — and the right hairstylist. I have lots of breakdowns on beauty looks from various red carpet events, it’s not as easy for me to pull of hair styles because I am not a pro. However I know celebrity hairstylist Dennis Stokely who came up with this great idea for a post about prom hair and a fantastic breakdown on how to achieve
LA-Story.com Contributing Editor, celebrity hairstylist, DENNIS STOKELY, offers up his favorite hairstyle look for Prom season 2015!
Bougainvillea is a favorite flower of mine that grows wild all over Southern California. I used it as my inspiration for creating this show-stopping hairstyle that looks both dramatic and modern.
HOW TO GET THIS LOOK!
1) I used several of my favorite Bumble and bumble products to create a perfect, off-duty model, hair texture. I applied Bb “Dry Spun Finish” generously to dry hair and then sprayed a good coat of Bb “does-it-all-spray.”
2) I pulled all the hair back into a low ponytail. I teased the ponytail and added lots of Bb “Classic hairspray.”
To create the bun, I used my hands to gently wrap the hair into a big messy shape. I secured the hair with bobbie pins and then sprayed the entire hairstyle with a last coat of Bb “does-it-all-spray.”
I completed the look with a lite coating of Bb “shine-on-finishing spray.“
I let the hair products sit for a few minutes and dry before finally fashioning a beautiful assortment of freshly cut, hot pink Bougainvillea! This dramatic look is set off by the black tulle gown with silver sash.
Pink and black is an all-time favorite color combination and this hairstyle and dress idea is a stunner!

Thanks to Dennis Stokey for such a great piece. The gorgeous hair in the photo shows that simplicity for prom is do-able and can be a superb statement of elegance meets gorgeous girl! While it’s possible you might try to create this, I would show a favorite stylist this photo and have them recreate the look as Dennis Stokely has broken it down!
What a stunning look!

Wonderful article! Learned so much. Now if Dennis could come and give me a few pointers!
Great job… Loved the simple breakdown of how he did the hairstyle and what products he used.. Beautiful
This will be very easy for me to knock off..I have a big pink bougainvillea in my front yard..and plenty of hair. It kind of reminds me a little of my grandmother..not a bad thing.
