It’s smoking hot here in Los Angeles. The weather has changed dramatically with the dial turned up on the heat. We are expecting triple digits for the next couple of days and it might be most of the week that we will be above 70 degrees! I am not complaining- I like it warm- but triple digits does make me pause.
The best part of the heat is that it gives one a reason to 1) slow down, and 2) sip some cooling cocktails– like those from Corralejos Tequila!!
Since tomorrow (Sunday, 6/19) is Father’s Day, that’s another reason to mix up some sips too! Thanks to the people at Corralejos Tequila, I have some interesting cocktail recipes to share!!
What’s special about Corralejos?
I love this brand! It’s amazing and here are some points that you should know why you should try this specific tequila brand!
• Hacienda Corralejo, founded in 1755, was the first estate in Mexico to produce tequila as a commercial venture.
• Hacienda Corralejo is located in Guanajuato the region of Mexico. Here the dark volcanic earth, rich in nutrients, is the perfect place for growing the famous Weber Blue Agave.
• Corralejo is produced from the finest hand-harvested agave plants that are slowly steam cooked in traditional stone clay ovens for over 27 hours.
• Corralejo is the only distillery to use the Charentais method of distillation. This method is responsible for capturing the aroma and flavors so distinctive to Corralejo.
• Each bottle of Corralejo is double-distilled in copper stills imported from Spain.
• The range of Corralejo tequilas includes Silver, Reposado and Añejo. In addition to the core range, Corralejo offers Triple Distilled Reposado, 99,000 Horas Añejo, and Añejo Gran Reserve.
• Tequila Corralejo is known for its tall colorful bottles. At Corralejo we believe those with pride stand tall.
• Corralejo Reposado is aged four months in barrels made from three types of wood including French, American, and Mexican oak.
All these points show that this is more an artisanal type of presentation- a distinct difference from your usual tequila brand.
How to enjoy Corralejos Tequila? Mix up your favorite cocktail and use Corralejos as the spirit of choice rather than vodka, gin, rum or any other brand of tequila. One of my favorite cocktails is a Margarita – and this recipe makes it easy to whip up a pitcher full of tasty margaritas. Note that this is not a blended cocktail that will water down the tequila. It’s a straight up, on the rocks style cocktail. If you are having guests over for the day, you could mix up a pitcher of these cocktails -sans ice- and put the pitcher in the frig to chill and pour it over ice as you serve it.
Margarita
Ingredients
1 ½ oz Tequila Corralejo Blanco.
3/4 oz Orange liqueur (Cointreau or something similar)
2 oz fresh pineapple juice. ( If you can’t do fresh, try getting a few containers of pineapple juice from Trader Joe’s! They come as four-packs of 8.45 oz cans.)
1/2 oz simple syrup.
Preparation:
1.- Place lemon juice and simple syrup in a tall glass.
2.- Macerate the ingredients until a pulpy consistency is achieved.
3.- Add 4 ice cubes and Corralejo Reposado Tequila.
4.- Garnish with a lime
This is an easy cocktail to make up and it’s so tasty! It makes for a great Father’s Day celebration too!

I totally love the history, and am wild for the label. I have not bought a bottle of tequila in over 10 years, but I just might if i see this on a shelf. Guanajuato is also unusual…they all come from Jalisco, so the terroire is different. hmmmm
It’s a great brand. Has amazing taste.. smoother (not so raspy). Love this one. More new brands coming!
