What is Chocolate Twist? How did it get started?
Launched in 2011, Chocolate Twist has its roots in founder Kate Coffey’s childhood. Captivated by both of her grandmothers’ love of cooking and baking, Kate knew what she wanted to do with her life from a very early age. Watching her beloved grandmothers carry on conversations, laugh with family, enjoy a little wine and never break a sweat, Kate was hooked. And hungry. Kate received her Baking and Pastry Certificate at Kendall College, Chicago. After several years of work in the food and non-profit sectors, Kate finally decided to listen to her heart. Named for Kate’s favorite ingredient and a nod to the meandering streets of her hometown, Riverside, Illinois, Chocolate Twist was born.

her unique artisanal presentation and vibe.

I was introduced to this line before Mother’s Day and I was overwhelmed by the intensely rich flavor and creamy texture of the various chocolates. The chocolate flavor evolves and the texture is second to none that I had previously tried. (And that includes Rechuitti in San Francisco!). Coffey has nailed down an array of sweets that everyone would love to have gifted to them.
I featured some key chocolates for Mother’s Day here and now I am showing some items that dads — or any guy– would love to snack on. The chocolates are so good, you might find that whatever you prepared for Father’s Day dinner changes up a bit, since there is a trend I have seen that makes eating Chocolate Twist treats irresistible and it’s very hard to stop once one starts.

I am a huge fan of salted caramel. I eat a fair amount of salt + pepper popcorn too. I love the flavor contrast. This layered bar is sure to intoxicate your taste buds and encourage you to polish off this bar in a flash– just don’t do it. You might think it’s a good idea, but cut the bar into thirds (or quarters if you can stand it) and save it for a couple of rounds of treats. You will find that it pairs exceptionally well with lots of beverages. Get creative. It works with coffee, maybe a beer, and some exceptional whiskey.
