While Father’s Day is very special, it’s also important to look at this past weekend as a real kick-off to summer…and that’s despite the less than stellar weather across most of Southern California!
One of my key pleasures of the long So. California summer is finding some great wines to sip at dinner and to share with friends.
LASORDA WINES
Founded by the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Hall of Fame Manager, Tommy Lasorda, a bottle from Lasorda Wines is also a great Father’s Day gift for the sports-loving dad. Lasorda Family Wines is a family-run business, so what better way to celebrate dad than with wine from a baseball legend?
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Paso Robles
A full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon exudes classic blackcurrant fragrance with dark chocolate, raspberry, and cedar. The rich mouthfeel is fruit driven with toasty oak, cassis and hints of boysenberry with a finish so long it will take you into extra innings.
CHARDONNAY
Monterey
A crisp Chardonnay fermented in neutral french oak to show the true nature of this grape. Lily, lemon grass and fresh citrus bouquet is followed by a bright mouthfeel of honeydew melon and asian pear.

THE SISTERS
The Sisters, a New Zealand-based brand, was created with female empowerment in mind to celebrate the achievements women make and to inspire the girlfriends who lift each other up. The Sisters offers four wines- Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Rose.
Today’s modern woman juggles many demands. Be it career, family, relationships, home and community. Add to that the media bombardment of how to achieve more in less time, how to climb the career ladder, how to raise perfect children, how to cook the perfect meal and it’s no wonder we hardly ever draw breath.
We at The Sisters say “Let’s feel good about all that we do. every single day. Let’s take a moment to reflect and celebrate what we are already achieving, each and every day.”
Four varietals including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Rosé, and Pinot Gris, this brand is ideal to sip on during a girls get-together, for before hitting the town for a night out or to serve to guests for a weekend barbecue!
More information on each varietal
2017 Sauvignon Blanc:
Our carefully managed yields meant we achieved satisfactory ripeness levels and could, therefore, harvest the Sauvignon Blanc before the major rain period had a significant effect on fruit quality. The resulting wine possesses lovely, lifted passionfruit characters and displays the typically pronounced varietal character and flavor profile that we all enjoy. 13% alcohol.
2015 Pinot Noir:
2016 Pinot Gris
2016 Pinot Rosé
2016 was a picture-perfect season. Plenty of warm dry weather with rain just when we needed it. The warm days were balanced by cool nights, slowing the ripening down at just the right time to allow the fruit the all-important hang time to develop its array of flavors. 12.5% alcohol.
These varietals sound amazing. I have not yet tried them but I am hoping to get some sample bottles for review so that I can share my thoughts on these wines!! In general, all of these varietals are terrific options for summer sipping or to pair with foods- whether at home or at a restaurant. The Pinot Gris is one of my favorites along with the Pinot Rosé. I also love Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc is amazing with fish and other light dishes.
