Kicking New Year’s Eve into Gear with Vamonos Riendo Mezcal!
One of the best things about popular spirit brands is that they have leveraged their brand so that there are lots of cocktails that can be
made with those spirits. The versatility of Vamonos Riendo is its flavor profile — which is a precious outcome from the very careful
crafting of this mezcal. The brand is very careful in its harvesting and how they handle the spirit with vibrant –but not overwhelming –notes of melon, pineapple, grapefruit, and mandarin balanced by the sweetness of cocoa with notes of mint and anise. Don’t forget the smoky flavor notes. (Sometimes you can almost feel the black oak smoke on your tongue.)
Vamonos Riendo Mezcal is exceptionally versatile because you can sip it straight up as well as mix it into so many cocktails.

Wayward Soul

Ingredients:

1.5oz Vamonos Reiendo Mezcal
-
1oz Sweet Vermouth
-
.5oz PF Dry Curacao
-
.5oz Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur
-
Orange Slice
Method:
Stir with ice and strain into a double Old-Fashioned glass.
Garnish with an orange slice.
Shishito Spice Margarita

Ingredients:

2 oz Vamonos Riendo Mezcal
-
1 oz Lime Juice
-
0.75 oz Roasted Shishito Pepper Agave Syrup
-
Sea Salt
-
Vegetable Ash
-
Roasted Shishito Pepper
For the Roasted Shishito Pepper Syrup:
Roast Shishito peppers over a wood-fired grill. Combine equal parts (by weight) water, agave, and roasted peppers and blend.
Fine strain through chinos.
The syrup is good for up to a week.
For the Vegetable Ash:
Left-over vegetable stocks and trimming are cooked on the grill until crisp and then blended in a spice grinder.
Method:
Combine ingredients in tin, shake, and strain over fresh ice.
Garnish with sea salt and vegetable ash rim, roasted shishito pepper.

Ingredients:

.75 Vamonos Riendo Mezcal

.75 Aperol
-
.75 Lime
-
.75 Falernum
-
Maraschino Cherry
Method:
Shake with ice and strain into a Nick & Nora glass.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
The Spark Negroni

Ingredients:
-
1.5 oz Vamonos Riendo Mezcal
-
1 Fresh Pineapple Chunk
-
1 oz Campari
-
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
Method:
In the bottom of a double Old Fashioned glass, place your pineapple chunk.
With a flat bottom muddler gently press the pineapple to release some of the juices to the glass.
Do not smash it, just press it!
Add remaining ingredients.
Add a big ice cube and stir.
Sprinkle with sea salt on top.
As you can see, Vamonos Riendo Mezcal provides a lot of variety in the cocktails you can make.

My next idea is that I want to try mixing some Vamonos Riendo in a basting sauce or a barbecue sauce on a pork loin or in a marinade to flavor some fish or other meat. I haven’t done anything in the food category with Vamonos Riendo, but I have some favorite marinades that I would definitely test out with this great spirit!
