Whoever said it was too early to have a cocktail? Not Me- particularly when it’s so close to a slew of holidays and holiday events! Here’s a sweet array of great and diverse cocktails that are sure to give you something to sip at Thanksgiving, that weekend or post Cyber-Monday!
Salted Karamel Martini
1 ¼ oz. Sobieski Karamel Vodka
¾ oz. coffee tequila
2 oz. half & half
½ oz. simple syrup
1 oz. caramel syrup (set aside 1/2 for topping)
1 dash of kosher salt
Whipped cream
Add ingredients in a mixing glass with fresh ice. Shake vigorously & strain into a martini glass. Garnish with whipped cream, followed by a drizzle of caramel and kosher salt.
Crafted by Caterina Miltenberger.
* To tweak the above cocktail for a different sort of texture, I would suggest using Kahlua, Godiva Expresso Liqueur, or Starbucks liqueur depending how much deep dark coffee flavor you want to have. If you want a more caramel flavor consistency, try a toffee liqueu. If you want to do something daringly different, try Botran RUM or Cruzan Spiced Rum.
1 oz. Lucid Absinthe
2 oz. apple cider
1 oz. cranberry juice
½ oz. Chambord
Granny Smith apple slice for garnish
Combine Lucid Absinthe, apple cider and cranberry juice in a shaker over ice and shake well.
Strain into a chilled martini glass. Drop the Chambord to the bottom of the glass.
Skewer Granny Smith apple wedge on a pick and lay length wise across the edge of the glass
Here, the general motif of a Kir Royale is given ‘the Port treatment,’ and the spicy, red berry flavors of Fonseca BIN 27 Ruby Port are lifted by the brut sparkling wine.
1 part Fonseca BIN 27 Ruby Port
2 parts brut sparkling wine (well-chilled)
Pour Fonseca BIN 27 Ruby Port into a well-chilled Champagne flute and top with brut sparkling wine. Garnish with a fresh blackberry or strawberry.
Camus Cider
1 oz. CAMUS VS Elegance Cognac
3 oz. apple cider (think Trader Joes or a natural food line of real cider! If you want to add hard cider, do adjust the proportions carefully!)
1 oz. cranberry juice
½ oz. honey
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Cinnamon sticks for garnish
If you want to do the cider but want a spiced alcoholic kick, think about Cruzan Spiced Rum or Bacardi Oak Rum!
Heat the apple cider, cranberry and nutmeg. Add the CAMUS VS Elegance and honey; garnish with a cinnamon stick.
Now that you have all these great recipes, I have even blocked out enough time for you to shop ahead and put some stock into your home bar for Thanksgiving weekend! This is just the first in a series of cocktail posts that will feature some amazing cocktails.
Stay tuned throughout this holiday season. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
