Beauty and the Blog: In the Beginning.. there was beauty!

Hey –welcome to Fashiontribes Beauty and the Blog!

While not new to the web, newsgroups or forums, this is a new venue for me and it’s definitely going to be a trial (by fire) and error situation so bear with me and let’s do a couple of test drives!

My name is Stevie and you will find  me on  Fashiontribes.com writing for various  tribes about all  kinds of stuff.  However one of my "hot topics" is beauty–while I love the aesthetics of art and all that, I am really talking about the beauty as in cosmetic counters: lipsticks, hair products, skincare, the coolest fragrance and well.. even guy’s stuff too (since guys want to look good and –duh— it’s not ok to use regular bar soap on hair or the face).

I will share the trials and tribulations of the beauty  junkie and being a product ho. Be forewarned, you may not like everything I have to suggest.  I might not like everything I have to suggest either–because it’s a case of "your mileage may vary" (YMMV) .

Acknowledgements:  thanks to alt.fashion and the lipstickpageforums.com  for all the great stuff, people, products and acronyms I have learned from y’all.  (No I am not from the South, unless you count Southern California as being from the South). I was a product junkie when I started at these places, I am much more of one now but a heck of a lot more discerning–which is what I am going to share with you. Hopefully you will learn from my mistakes, my ho-hums and "yeah baby" moments and maybe they will work for you and maybe not.  It’s sort of like having someone around 24/7 with whom you can dish about girly girl type topics. Lawd knows I have bored my Significant Other  (SO) to seriously glazed eyes when I have scored some seriously great product.. ditto on the other side of things when I find something isn’t working for me and I rant. So you get me and I get you and we can all agree to disagree at some point but that’s the gig. You don’t expect your girlfriends to agree with you 1005 of the time. You want them to be honest. And thankfully my friends will tell me –"uh Stevie, No! Put down that bottle/shadow/lipcolor/shoes/handbag and back away slowly"

Also thank you in advance to all the companies and firms who I work with *(yes I know it’s wrong to end a sentence with a preposition but this is truly just between you and me. OK?). Thanks for the photos, the help, the information that I often call for at the "verylastminute".. and yes –for writers that’s often the case– the very last minute part.  Because that’s what this entry is–the very last minute because I finally got the inspiration of what to write about. –and that’s just the introduction.

  You will probably get more tomorrow and throughout the weeks and months.

I just finally found Rachel’s blog postings and realized she is coming to MY neck of the woods! GIRL, you better let me know where/when and the 411 so that we can hook up for lunch or coffee and maybe I can introduce you to some of my friends. After all, LA;s all about sharing (and enabling–bring a practically empty credit card)

Plus depending on the dates, we can do sample sales.. it’s not what you are used to in NYC. It’s definitely different.
