A POP of Summer beauty!

Summer is upon us (hello! it’s here now! it’s 92 degrees in NYC and in LA it’s in the upper 70’s/low 80’s!)  which means it’s time to start plotting out your summer look and start buying — check that–start wearing  those products now!

Pop Beauty Creator, make-up artist Sara Strand (also one of the sisters behind PIXI beauty too)  has created a summer look that is wearable, flexible based on your eye and skin color and definitely fun in the sun to show off summer’s golden glow or as Sara calls it "summer’s sun-drenched toffee glow." which is pretty darn accurate. The focus is on smoky, ‘smouldering" eyes  and sunkissed cheeks and lips glowing with color.

Here’s what Sara Strand recommends for Summer 2005!

  • Eyes:" Smudge the super easy to use  Glitterstix in  Choco ($8) onto your eyes to enhance any eye color and to add a smouldering glow to the lids. This deep chocolate shade looks amazing smudged thinly around the eye for an almost smoky bronze glow.  It contains tiny silver sparkles for that extra effect and you will be ready for the party in no time!"

  • Lashes: "Finish off with lots and lots of  Lash n Line  in  Deep ($18) for flirty full lashes."

(Personally I love Lash n Line! It’s double ended tube of liner and mascara in perfectly coordinated colors makes it impossible to mess up!)

  • .Cheeks: "Next, add an enhancing, subtly glowing cheekc colour.  Cheeky pop in  Sunset ( $18) will give you just the right amount of colour. Apply sheer onto the apples of the cheeks to really bring out your tan and add a fresh burst of colour to your face. Also, this product will protect the skin and keep it hydrated during the day."

Note that this is a split color blush cake so you can use either color as the wash on the cheeks and then apply the other color on the apples and blend well for  that "POP" of color! It will look like a just pinched cheek!

Also use a primer, tinted moisturizer or a sheer foundation mixed with a bit of moisturizer for that dewy glow and if you want a bronzier look  use   Pop Up Blush  in  Baby Blush  (naked tan) for that truly just sat in the sun look with a water-based  gel stick.

For a bit  of daytime (or into nightime) eye shadow, you might want to pick up the  Eyecake in  Peaches  which is a fab tin of five shades that work well for anytime of day: lemon, gold, bronze, soft  mocha and a sheer pink all with a shimmer (some more than others) that work well layered or on their on and work really well with the Choco Glitterstix.

If you like to carry extra product during the day, you don’t need to take the entire make-up kit with you! Instead grab one of  Pop Beauty’s  palettes. For summer, I recommend the  Popette Palette  in  Beaming Popette which features  colors in glowing peaches, emerald greens. Eyes are done in golden khaki and lime green; cheeks are peachy keen and lips are punchy with three tropical flavors and colors ( Lip Cream in raspberry red; Lip Gloss in Orange Tint and Pink Sparkle) .  For $28, it’s a bargain of beauty products that covers day to night, casual to party in a "pop" of color!

Go check it out at select Sephora stores and Sephora.com

If you try these colors, let me know what you think. I think the Glitterstix are smudgeable heaven. You already know my feelings about Lash n Line and the Glosses are so cute and taste great!

See you at the beauty counter!

Lips: "Finish off this look with our almost edible  Minigloss trio  in  Lolly  ($18). They will have your lips glisten with a dewy toffee glow for tasty irresistable lips! This look will put you straight into the spotlight at any party you go to! have fun and remember to play with make-up this summer; that’s what it’s all about"

Definitely pick up this highly portable pocket-sized trio. Take just one or all three and pocket them for yummy lips. Don’t forget to do lip pencil first to provide a color base and a product  that will hold the
