Palette A Go-Go (going, going GONE!)

You say "summer" and the words  you think  of are " carefree, vacation, fun, easy" but for those of us who love our make-up, it’s not always that way. It’s crazy trying to apply, powder, smudge, line, and pouf the makeup into place and then watch it melt  into a puddle thanks to the heat and/or humidity.

Or maybe weather doesn’t matter but you have a  minimalist look for summer days, but when the sun starts dropping below that horizon, you want to serious turn up  the watts on those peepers and that smile. You don’t have to tote a ton of products with you!  You do need to invest in a few things:
blotting papers,
a small mascara–a good reason to succumb to a GWP at your local department store
and a make-up palette.
Brushes are optional when you figure out that you can use cotton swabs and  fingers to apply. The only thing you really need is a fluffy brush and/or a sponge for blending.

Palettes are fun to have for summer, vacations and holiday times because they simplify your life down to a few choice colors that you know will work for you.  Depending on the textures in the palette, you  can vary the tools you will need.
ream palettes don’t require much more than fingers and maybe a q-tip  to clear up smudges.
Powder palettes work for applying with fingers but if you want to do an eyeliner,  you either need a brush or a pencil for lining.
If you have a lip palette, you definitely need a retractable lip brush and maybe a mini taklon brush to apply lip colors as dewy cheek and eye colors.

Any way you slice it, grab a palette, a small vial of your fave fragrance to juice up your look and go-go. Here are some of my fave palettes picks for Summer 2005.

Giorgio Armani’s Bronzemania palettes and collection.  Nothing beats Armani for sillky sheer textures that last all day and create seductive looks that wear well into the night. Plus each year, his palettes change so these babies are collectible. If you can get to an Armani counter and snag one, DO SO!

Bobbi Brown’s Beach Beauty Palette is an amazing array of neutral browns/bronzes and beiges that transcend day to night and allow you to turn up the watts by wetting a shadow for more intense eyeliner and slicking on a hotter lip color. It’s an easy, breezy palette and get thee to a counter FAST!

Chantecaille Lip Sorbets Palette is a yummy collection of lip colors that are sheer, soft and glowy. Definitely a summer collection and slick on one of these sheers across cheeks for that hint of summer glow and maybe one across the crease of your eyelid for that dewy eye look and add mascara

Jane Iredale Moonglow Palette is soft sensual moonlit colors that give you that soft glow that truly seems to come from within. Gentle colors that can be mixed and matched in a myriad of ways for eyes and cheeks and that all over golden glow. Maybe check out that coppery color or the pink on your lips and then gloss over with clear gloss. (lipglass from MAC comes to mind)

Sue Devitt VEGA Mini Stars Palette  offers an assortment of glossy sexy lip colors  that have you kissing and telling him to wait a sec while you apply a different color.  Maybe a different color each night? Or use one for cheeks for that glowy look. LOVE Sue Devitt’s stuff. Her palettes and products rock!

Victoria’s Secret Sunny Cheeks Mosaic Bronzing Palette ..  superb collection of a variety of bronze hues to be used on all over the face, cheeks, eyes and even lightly on the lips. You can create your own "bronzed beauty" look with one simple compact, one pencil or brush (wet lining) for that smoky eye and a sheer gloss in  that pink orange (Chanel Nectar Glossimer?)  an voila, instant VS Sex Kitten!

You know that there are a ton more palettes out there. These are but a few I have managed to pick up recently to play with. Keep your eyes peeled for more, you beauty junkie!

See you at the beauty counter!
