Hey it’s Stevie from Fashiontribes.com!  When last we left this blog, it turns out not only had I done one podcast, I had done two!!! eeeek! Quelle Horror!!  It was a freaking day so I am here today to clean up  my mistakes.  Plus I did an extra post yesterday on another topic so it’s been a bit insane!!

Nyakio (pronounced Neh- Ka-Oh.. AFRICAN name.. )  is a fab line of fragranced body products. This just isn’t any old line; it’s an homage to Nyakio’s Kenyan heritage and the beauty rituals and treatments that were handed down in the tribe of her family.  Tribal rituals were pretty much orally passed down and thus Nyakio sought to preserve –and share– those beauty rituals with the rest of us.   Thank you Nyakio!! GREAT products.

Having been writing about these  products for about 3 years, I know a select few very well and others passingly well.  Knowledgeable enough to go buy them after I got to test drive them–  yes , they are that good!

While in the podcast, I talked about the entire line, I am going to talk about  my favorites here. (hah! you have to listen to the podcast to get the entire line. I am finally getting savvy about podcasting!) Kiwi Aloe Oil-Based Body Wash totally rocks my world. This oil based wash makes for a really moisturizing wash and doesn’t strip skin. Thanks to glycerin, fruit extracts, Vitamin C and essential oils.  It smells heavenly!! The Kiwi makes  this a very lush body wash.

Comes in Citrus Moluccana too– a rich citrus fragrance body wash. Guys will love this line too thanks to great ingredients and no foo-foo packaging.

If it’s exfoliating time, you definitely want to use the Nyakio Body Scrubs for a terrific exfoliation that moisturizes without being overly oily. Sugar is the scrub portion of these three different scents:
Grape, Eucalyptus & Sugar–  grape seed oil provides anti-oxidants, eucalyptus smells rich and sugar does the work.
Kenyan Coffee & Sugar– Don’t drink your java, apply it to your body  with this scrub. It has Kenyan Coffee beans, Vitamine A & E, and great oils for a firming and conditioning exfoliation product. This one and the Lemon are my faves!
Lemon Rind & Sugar– this smells SO GOOD that I love. It’s like lemonade or lemon bars only better. If I could spread it on toast or cookies, I would eat it.. but then don’t do that. This is for external use only.

After you do your exfoliation with the scrub, finish the job with a Body Creme. Nyakio Body Creme  is one of the lushest –and thickest– cremes around.  A little goes a long way, it’s that rich.  It contains Vitamin A & C, jojoba oil, shea butter, wheat germ oil and soy protein for a good for your skin  creme that smells yummy.

. My favorite is  Raspberry Basil  and the other scent is  Grapefruit Tarragon.  The addition of the herbs will cut the sweetness and tartness of the products and the softness of the scent won’t conflict with other fragrance products you use. I love love LOVE the Raspberry Basil. The "feel" and scent make it really rich.

If you love these products like I do, or they sound appetizing, then you will probably love their candles and aromatherapy products. Nyakio has some yummy scents for candles:
Jasmine Orange–  her favorite scents in a candle.

African Tea — a blend of tea and citrus for a yummy scent. This is one of my faves
Mombasa— features ocean air and citrus notes.

And for those who don’t want candles but want continuous fragrancing..( I  love these kinds of products) ,  Nyakio Fragrance Diffusers  are fun and provide subtle fragrance all day–24/7!
Chai is a blend of  green tea, lemon, peppermint leaves and white amber for a warm, uplifting scent.
Ocean  fragrance diffuser gives you a fresh, clean scent of marine/sea notes, green sea grass and driftwood.

You should definitely check out that Nyakio fragrances and body serums. They are so cool I will get back to you with more about them when I have had time to really try them.

You can find Nyakio products at Nyakio.com  or in stores like Apothia at Fred Segal, spas, Kalologie, Kinara spa, Pir Cosmetics, Fred Segal Studio, the Greenhouse-57th St. Spa and lots of other stores nationwide.
