Hey Beauty Buzz Readers, Stevie here with a cool piece of 411 that’s hot off the presses (ok, ok, face) from Justine O’Neill, Fashiontribes.com contributor.
I recently had the opportunity to experience the new "Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Facial" at the Anastasia Spa of Beverly Hills. For those of you living under a rock, Anastasia Soare is the brow shaping expert and esthetician of Hollywood’s royalty. The list of her clientele includes, but is not limited to superstars such as Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Renee Zellweger, Debra Messing, Oprah Winfrey, and Reese Witherspoon. Any doubt of her superstar clientele is quickly eliminated once you get a gander at the spa walls that are covered in autographed photos, magazine covers and a rather impressively large display of Madonna, a la her famous W Magazine spread.
I checked into the spa and was immediately offered to have my eyebrows done by one of Anastasia’s trusted specialist. I passed on this tempting offer, but only because I am loyal to the method of eyebrow threading in lieu of waxing or plucking. After a few minutes of perusing Anastasia’s make up line to satisfy my own selfish make up artist curiosity, I was invited back to the facial room.
Cora, my esthetician, began by cleansing my skin with cool cleansing pads. Once my skin was clean she inspected my skin and informed me that I would benefit from this particular facial meant to heal and moisturize tired and dry skin. Based on the methods used to heal burn victims, this is unlike any facial I have ever had. An airbrush type machine is used to coat the skin with a refreshing solution of amino acids, vitamins and minerals while pure oxygen is used to help absorb it into the skin. It takes about 45 minutes and feels cool and soothing. The added bonus is the heightened oxygen levels in the room that aid in serious relaxation. The facial would be particularly useful after any aggressive treatment, like microdermabrasion, to soothe, heal, moisturize and even out skin tone.
Once my skin drank up all the nutrients and my facial was complete it was uber-moist…shiny really. I was told that the effects of the facial would last up to a couple of weeks. The dramatic shine wore off once I washed my face that evening and my skin, 4 days later, is still baby bottom smooth. Furthermore, my typical battle with flakey patches of skin seems to have ceased for the time being! The next time you have $ 350.00 burning a hole in your pocket, consider making an appointment.
