Finding Hot Eats on the Run Online Through Websites & Tweets!!

Looking for a great place to eat? The hottest thing coming off the web and twitter!
It’s the fastest way to find great food for little money providing you are willing to wait a bit.– at least in LA.
Here’s what’s happening — and it’s so hot, it’s hit the AP newswire courtesy of Shaya Tayefe Mohajer and part my own legwork since I knew about 2 of them.
Calbi BBQ
This is a truck based fusion of Mexican & Korean.. and you can view the menu online, the blog and even find out the schedule!! They give recommendations on what to order

Spicy Beef Burrito.
Kogi BBQ Follow the Kogi BBQ truck only on Twitter and tweet your way to great eats –that’s worth the almost 30 minute wait for the Korean-Mexican tacos, burritos and more. The popularity is due to the tweets and that they move frequently.

Foodcart Sportland is a Portland, Oregon based blog that offers up a list of various food trucks and carts that provide all sorts of food– based on your particular hankering of the moment. From crepes to fusions, it’s all there and their photos are pretty darn amazing with photos of carts & food. You can search by food type too.

Another Twitter-based food chain is the PDXfoodcarts (http://twitter.com/pdxfoodcarts) Roughly the same MO as the Foodcart Sportland, but on twitter and not the web — this is not specific to one food category but all food carts. Should be interesting to see how this plays out in the Portland area in the 2 types of coverage: blog vs tweets.
Don Chow Tacos is another LA-based food truck peddling it via website and Twitter both (http://twitter.com/donchowtacos) who post different specialties via both web and tweets as well as location/times. There’s a lot more information on the website.
Taking a slightly different route is the Yuri Japanese Cafe which is also providing truck based food but it’s Japanese food of sushi rolls, rice bowls. While the site provides lots of photos and info, the tweets make it hot and have you running for to catch up. They call it a BBQ bowl & roll truck but I have to wonder that if there is a bbq sushi roll? Not quite clear on this one but obviously very popular — even out in the OC (Orange County for those not in the know)

That’s the haute scoop in LA environs– and strangely enough 2 great competitors in Portland. . The biggest issue for So. Cal is that there is a lack of coverage in the South Bay & So. Orange County line. As the lady said, “where’s the beef?” (or chicken or burrito or whatever)
