New Year, New You — you are going to see lots of tips this month–and most likely all year because I seem to be on a roll about making 2012 a year of significant change.
2011 was a huge year of evolution and metamorphisis for me personally and I am not done yet. No matter that it’s personal body image, fitness issues, eating a healthier diet (meaning the food you eat is actually good for you and not a bag of Cheetos), liking and learning to love who I am and recognizing my accomplishments. Looking back at things I have done over the last 10 + years, the things I got involved in were because I had the desire to learn about something- whether the topic of my MA thesis or simply how to find the best fitting jeans for different body types.
Now it’s about learning to love the internal you and how that reflects out on the external you. Because once you recognize that light within and turn up the wattage, everyone else will see it too.
One of the changes or elements I brought into my life in 2011 was “First Tuesday” a networking group based in person and online in So. California and Chicago. I found out about it through a friend of a friend: stylist Barbra Horowitz introducing me to Lisa Greenfield (the person who reads hands and a resume that’s killer). Lisa leads the South Bay First Tuesday group– an offshoot of the main group and she asked me to speak at one of the meetings. Powerful, heady group of women with plenty of spirit and spiritual aspects — and I became hooked. I joined within 2 weeks of that speaking gig.)
Kim Seltzer is a member of First Tuesday– hence the mention of the group because her video below appeared on the Huffington Post last week as part of the content from YourTango.com’s website where they talk about a variety of issues. (Bookmark the site. It’s definitely interesting.)
What’s interesting is that both Lisa and Barbra can tell you that women typically are very hard on themselves when it comes to self-image and their own bodies. So listen to this video and see what Kim has to say about body image and how it can be fixed.
One of the site readers sent in a question about whether all women have body image issues– even celebrities. For the most part, yes, most people have something they want to change. However accepting yourself as you are is important to any change that you might make. Because in the end, it’s still you looking back in the mirror.
Smart, surprising and interesting answer – right? Got to love this video and Kim Seltzer for helping someone (ok– me, you, everyone we know) get a handle on loving who you are and how you look. Sometimes it is the clothing you wear or don’t wear that makes you unhappy with your body image. Look in the mirror, know who you are and LOVE yourself.

Change how you feel about and see yourself starting today. REALLY.. it can be done. It’s not overnight and certainly not exactly accomplished in 2 -4 weeks.. but it’s a longer term project that can make a difference in YOU!
